Looks great but it really isn’t – OpenTable for Restaurants Review

The upgrade requires an Apple tablet, has a sleek style, and allows you to easily navigate tabs. After the tutorial on how to use the app, we later learned certain details we needed to change could not be done through the app, rather through their website version of the app. Not a big deal. The problem is, we found ourselves flipping back-and-forth between the app and website version. Certain features are only on the app version, and to change any information it must be done on the website version yet it does not sync with the app. Resulting in guest calling in to tell us they can’t book a reservation, can’t increase their party, or only see a few select seatings because we appear to be overbooked. We then had issues with exporting our information from the app. We were informed it could only be done through the website version. No big deal. Once we tried exporting the information, the tab would refresh to a long page of code. We called in again, and was told this time the website version works best on Google Chrome. After downloading Chrome the same incident happened. We called a third time to resolve this issues, and to remove the 2-step-authentication from the app. Ideally, we thought this would be helpful incase the password was lost, like previously before, instead every time the app is logged in, a text is sent to the my cellphone, and my employees have to figure out how to reach me to tell them code. This is not realistic, because the restaurant is immobilized when I am away from work and my phone. All in all, we still aren’t able to export our information, the app hasn’t synced, the app limits what settings you can customize e.g. party statues, and you can no longer search tags but have to scroll through a long list and click. The upgrade has brought more frustration than connivence.
