Perfect for Volleyball – ScoreCam - Embedded Scoreboard Review

I have two girls that play travel volleyball so I spend plenty of time standing on the edge of the court. GoPro files were huge and there were long periods of dead time between plays. With ScoreCam I have it set to pause after score update. I use the longboard version of the score board placed on the bottom with a “0” margin. I resume recording when they are about to serve. A quick two-set match is now 15 minutes of all action and around 650 MB vice 4 GB for each 17:42 of GoPro video. Finding footage for highlight videos is much faster now. My daughter reviews it and jots down the score just before the clip she wants with a brief description. I can now compile a highlight video in about 45 minutes. I’ve used a couple iOS devices in the past with ScoreCam and I’m now using an 8 Plus mounted on a light stand that can reach 10’, with an iPhone 6 as the remote. The remote view ensures you are capturing the entire court. I also have a Rodeo mic plugged in and mounted in a cold shoe mount. It doesn’t matter how tight of space there is at the edge of the court, I can get the entire baseline in view and never have anyone walking in front of the camera. Live Stream is a great add on. I record in 1080 but was able to simultaneously stream in 720 over cellular data to YouTube live during high school playoffs. There were some parents/grandparents who couldn’t make the game trip and loved seeing the action. The video is stored in a separate album in your Photos app. I can use Dropbox to wirelessly upload the video to my account and then share the Dropbox folder with all the other parents. I’m a hit with all the other parents. No more lines of various recording equipment on our end of the court.
