Fix the controls. Please. – FINAL FANTASY (Old Ver.) Review

Final Fantasy I is a fantastic game. This port could be fantastic, too. Unfortunately, the controls are absolutely unredeemable. You can only go one step at a time if you want to move to the right. The control pad is huge and in the middle of the screen. In the new game screen, setting up the party is unintuitive and the keyboard looks like garbage when, as a mobile game, it could have used the phone’s keyboard. Also, a bit picky of me, but I don’t like the font. It’s just a bit too much on the ugly side of retro. And I’m not a huge fan of how the new mobile-friendly combat menu looks. It’s been two years since the last update. I doubt any of this will be fixed. I’ve been wanting to replay FFI for a few weeks now and only just got around to buying it on the app store. I regret it. That’s four bucks I’m not getting back. Fortunately for my nostalgia, it’s also on the PSP and I have a Vita. It’s ten bucks for the combined I and II. I just bought it because I want to play this dang game. I’ll be deleting the app. I won’t be getting any more phone ports for the series.
