Good Service, Still Working Out Kinks – NOMAD - Made to Order Review

This new app offers a real service to folks like myself who enjoy food trucks but don’t always have time to find one and then wait a long time in person for the order to be completed. I tried this app out at the Nov. 2 launch event in New Orleans. My girlfriend and I ordered tacos from La Cocina’s truck. I was tempted just to order in person as I always have. But I tried the app instead. Glad I did. It worked as described. I found the truck on the map, examined the menu, placed the order and before long it was ready to be picked up. It all took about 10 to 15 minutes. That’s pretty if you think about it. The main goal of the app is to allow people to order ahead even before they have reached where the truck is parked. I talked to the developers afterward about hiccups I experienced. Setting up the account on my iPhone took me awhile because it did not notify me that my account was created. But it was. All I had to do was log in with my email and password and I was good (That’s a bug they are working out apparently). Another hiccup was adding my credit card. I originally tried to input my MasterCard, which also doubles as a debit card, but the add would not accept that card. But when I inputted my Visa instead it worked fine. I am sure they will allow customers to use a greater variety of cards as the service matures. Also, though my truck was great, not every truck had their act together that night. This is all a new thing. So as more people use this service, the trucks will know how to adjust to make it all work. All in all, a good start. Will update this review as the app and the accompanying service matures.
