Foodies use NOMAD to find the real-time location of food trucks, review their menus and company profiles, order through the app, pre-pay for their meals and skip the line at pickup.
Available Fall 2018 in Louisiana. More states to come, so stay tuned!
I don’t want notifications; just information. This app does not meet that logical expectation!
This is a horrible app. Tried to register but it never got an acknowledgement. Closed the app and was actually able to log in with information I previously input. Why didn’t the app tell me the registration was successful? The exact same happened when I put in CC information. I am now leery of the security for my CC number.
It took a lot of tries to get an account set up. Then once I used it to make a purchase, the truck did not receive my order until 20 minutes after I ordered so I ended up waiting 45 minutes for food. I tried again with another truck and checked to see if they got my order 10 minutes later and they hadn’t so I just cancelled it and paid cash. When the bugs get fixed, it could be a really amazing app though!
Trying to sign up via the app and the “start using NOMAD” button won’t proceed the screen further.
This is absolutely the worst app ever. Whoever designed this couldn’t have spent a whole lot of time designing nor testing it. It is not user friendly and it took me two days to figure out how to set up an account. The launch of app last night at the Food Truck Fest was a disaster and even the people on the trucks were annoyed. Notice to mention the app charged me twice for the same order!!
Awesome idea, so much better than waiting in line to order, then standing by a truck waiting for your food! Other reviews said they had problems that sound like they’ve already been fixed- I had no problems with signup or ordering.
This new app offers a real service to folks like myself who enjoy food trucks but don’t always have time to find one and then wait a long time in person for the order to be completed. I tried this app out at the Nov. 2 launch event in New Orleans. My girlfriend and I ordered tacos from La Cocina’s truck. I was tempted just to order in person as I always have. But I tried the app instead. Glad I did. It worked as described. I found the truck on the map, examined the menu, placed the order and before long it was ready to be picked up. It all took about 10 to 15 minutes. That’s pretty if you think about it. The main goal of the app is to allow people to order ahead even before they have reached where the truck is parked. I talked to the developers afterward about hiccups I experienced. Setting up the account on my iPhone took me awhile because it did not notify me that my account was created. But it was. All I had to do was log in with my email and password and I was good (That’s a bug they are working out apparently). Another hiccup was adding my credit card. I originally tried to input my MasterCard, which also doubles as a debit card, but the add would not accept that card. But when I inputted my Visa instead it worked fine. I am sure they will allow customers to use a greater variety of cards as the service matures. Also, though my truck was great, not every truck had their act together that night. This is all a new thing. So as more people use this service, the trucks will know how to adjust to make it all work. All in all, a good start. Will update this review as the app and the accompanying service matures.
