the tides app of your dreams (almost) – AyeTides Review

I'm a marine biologist working in California. I rely on this extensively for low tide work. Tide books are great, but it's really helpful to visualize the timing of the tides, with corrections, for each site. I use the developer's desktop version of this app (Mr Tides 3), which gets about the same review from me, for the same reasons. This app is the one you want. It's easily worth the ten bucks for its functionality and having offline data -- no Internet connection required and no waiting for slow data downloads. The ability to look up any date is really useful. It loses a star in this review because the graphics aren't as nicely finished as, say, TideGraph, and the user interface is a bit clunky. For example, date selection could use a mini month calendar rather than a scrolling display that doesn't include day of the week. Station selection could have an easily accessible map display rather than a scrolling selection (though I'm guessing that including maps would require an Internet connection -- I imagine that an offline version might be humongous).
