Great concept – Care.com: Hire Caregivers Review

I think the app is reasonably user friendly. Overall it’s organized well. I’m not crazy about the ad hoc manner in which the site hides phone numbers. In my opinion we’re all adults (or should be. Teens should not be permitted to advertise), and if we want to share phone numbers that should be our choice. I have had technical difficulties on more than one occasion where I couldn’t connect with someone because the tap phone feature was malfunctioning. I also think there should be a separate part of the site for those seeking long-term child care, as opposed to a casual babysitter. But perhaps my biggest gripe is not with the site itself from a technical perspective, but with its efficacy. I have at least 10 people who ignore my outreach efforts (after they responded to my add), or who don’t show up for a phone or in-person interview for every one person who responds and follows through. As a result, the process of finding a nanny or sitter is extremely time intensive, and the opposite of convenient, which surely the developers of the app intended. Of course you can’t blame care.com for that. But I do think that is an important component to share with anyone contemplating signing up for a membership.
