Gameplay and playability – Tempest: Pirate Action RPG Review

If you’re having second thoughts on purchasing this game, DONT. It’s a terrific game with the ability to save battery life by reducing water textures, and isn’t battery hungry otherwise. The starting ship, Xebec, isn’t the lowest class of ship and helps progress into the game (quest wise), the devs making gold harder to achieve has never been a problem; working around that and finding a solution to simple gameplay mechanics gives it a sense of playability not seen in other pirate games. It’s virtually a crossover of your favorite pirate games like Sid Meier’s Pirates! and Assassins creed, with some notable differences that are welcomed with open arms. If you like boarding, sinking, pirating; this game is worth well past the price they ask. I was the first to be skeptical and watched reviews that just didn’t do the game justice. Although, yes you can run around, quest, capture and use ships, buy items, use artifacts, and advance yourself to a harder difficulty if you like a challenge. Other mechanics not pointed out in many reviews is the ability to put a waypoint while out on the sea, use only the wheel, and virtually sail between point A and B. Doing so may attract pirates if your hoisting up a different sail or vise-versa! I wish I could play the DLC, being the only drawback. That I can’t pay more, for more content. It’s well worth the money for both, those unable to figure out the game, with or without a tutorial to guide you; need to abandon ship. This game utilized the perfect combination of simple mechanics and challenging gameplay that will both frustrate and delight. 5 stars
