They killed it even faster. – Galaxy on Fire™ - Alliances Review

Version 1.16, released on June 7th, 2018, is the first update to this game since October 28th, 2015... 2 years, 7 months, and 10 days ago. The game was slowing decaying during all that time, with more and more bugs breaking the game, making it borderline-unplayable, as more and more time passed. Then, finally, an update! Wow, the game is alive! (Shocking everyone who still plays and knows better.) "Small adjustments and maintenance work." Hmm... sounds like bug fixes! Great! This game sure needs those! Did they fix the global chat that disconnects every few minutes and randomly switches back and forth to a second global chat? Nope. Did they fix the star map that takes an incredibly long time to load, making active war (in a war game) next to impossible? Nope, loading as slowly as ever! So, no bug fixes. New bugs? Of course! The game launches fine, plays its little intro video, synchronizes everything it needs between my device and the server, says it's loading, progress bar right at the very end, and now crashes. Every single time. I can no longer even play. What a shame. I am one of the few dumb people who has actually spent thousands of dollars on this game over the years, and continued to spend money occasionally, on a game with virtually zero support, with apparent active development ending years ago. Now I can no longer spend money to keep this sinking ship afloat. I guess the developers must have wanted to kill it even faster. What could this update even be, if it breaks more, and fixes nothing? Well, I guess the company was required to push an update to comply with the GDPR (they already sent a pop-up to everyone in the game, once again displaying their usage policy and terms and conditions, I guess that legally wasn't enough). Somewhere along the line, they broke something, which seems typical for Fishlabs (it recently took them over a month to fix the AI-controlled Voids, which were working fine one day, and broken the next). I am playing on an iPad 4 running iOS 10.3.3. Not the newest model of iPad, not the newest version of iOS, sure. But both worked fine before. Now, I can't even play anymore. So, thanks for the unexpected update, Fishlabs! One final disappointment, for a game that had so much potential squandered by poor management decisions and a lack of investment. Thanks a lot. I'm sure you'll continue to take people's money though... you still host "Happy Hours" with discounts on credit packs for anyone remaining who is stupid enough to invest. Don't kid yourself, they'll fix nothing with the money that you give them. They had over two and a half years to fix all of the bugs plaguing this dying game, and what did they do? They broke it even more. Potential new players, stay far away!
