WhatsApp Groups – WhatsApp Messenger Review

I like this app but there’s something I absolutely can’t stand: WhatsApp groups. While some of them are interesting to be in, most others are just a bother. - There’s no formal invitation to join a group. Literally anyone with your phone number can add you to any group at any time without your permission. Sure there’s an option to block or report as spam, but that means that any other stranger on the group now has your phone number, which shouldn’t be in the first place. - It informs everyone in the group that you have left. It’s like being in a room you were forced to enter and then announcing when you leave that you’re leaving. There’s no point to this. It is no one’s business whether I leave the group or not, nobody should contact me and ask me questions...except maybe the group admin. - It seemed like the most obvious solution was to mute or archive unwanted chat messages. When I mute or archive a chat, I don’t want to see any notification, whether I’m in the app or not. I want to be in control of the groups I’m added to. If you won’t give me an option to grant my permission to be added, then at least make it such that I can exit the group quietly without everyone knowing.
