Fun at first, but extremely frustrating late-game – Infinity Blade II Review

It’s a lot of fun at first, getting stronger weapons and gems, but once you get to higher rebirths, the combat is terribly unbalanced. The player character is way to slow compared to the enemies’ speed. This causes issues when trying to dodge and follow with a parry, when bosses use projectiles (I’m looking at you, God King), and when you get a break. I’ve nailed parries, and the game says I got a parry, but I still take damage, and get swept up in their combo. The game registered that I missed a boss when they shoot magic at me, even though I timed it correctly and got the direction correct. There are also times when I get a break (very prominent in dodge breaks) and my character can’t recover fast enough to attack before the enemy recovers and unleashes a combo on me. Very fun game, but extremely frustrating with certain enemy types. Also, I absolutely hate unskippable cutscenes. This game is pretty good at letting you speed through most, but the ones you have to watch are extremely infuriating, especially after getting slapped by the God King.
