A variety of bugs and issues – Liars Dice Online Multiplayer Review

Allow me to start with a personal anecdote that reveals in my opinion the most heinous and inexplicable flaw in this game. Every day I’ve played Liar’s Dice, despite having a stellar connection to the servers, dice have disappeared from the table. Sometimes dice left my possession when I didn’t lose the round, and I’ve seen it happen to others as well. This is unacceptable and I would be happy to record my screen to expose this issue. I’m equally confused by the game “rejecting decisions” at times. Why would the table reject my perfectly legitimate bet? I’m open to an explanation for these things but they must be resolved for the game to be successful. In addition the “human” players behave suspiciously robotic at higher stakes tables. It seems rather unusual that they have generic names and bet with similar timing each round. Lower level tables feature decidedly more human interactions and gameplay. I’m curious if there are AI secretly playing with an edge due to a lack of players or to shift the odds of the table in favor of the house. Beyond this, the economic structure of the game is poorly thought out. We as players understand and accept the need for a profit. However, the desire to continue playing a game can be largely financially driven. There is a delicate balance between the necessity for ongoing micro-transactions to continue playing and a player being able to spend minimally and keep going due to their skill. In Liar’s Dice one must compete at a level of near perfection to avoid coin purchases. There are no illusions about the in-game economy. We know if we lose it’s game over or wallets open. Fix the bugs, make the game fair insofar as we may at least control our own odds without flaw, and adjust the economy so that the prize table is a fair bell-curve. My suggestion would be that with 5 players, the top two should be earning, the middle breaking even, and the bottom two should lose coins. Remember, you can’t make money at all if nobody wants to play the game. I’m basing my 1 star review on the lack of polish, bugs, and bad design. It would be unfair to award more stars for what is a very fun but completely unoriginal concept that’s been so badly executed.
