Probably the worst of the three – Infinity Blade III Review

Personally I found Infinity Blade II to be the best of the trilogy. More weapon types than the first, same combat system and better UI. All Infinity Blade III did graphics wise was put on a filter. It certainly looks nicer but overall this game felt a bit lazy. The third installation adds a lot of unnecessary cinematic and dialogue that shouldn’t have been there in the first place (comments made during combat, the transition to HQ, the way Sia has to shoot everything with an arrow before starting a fight). A lot of its assets are just reused from the first and second games including the music. The most annoying part about this game for me was the combat system and how imbalanced it felt. Naturally, the enemies progressively get harder throughout the stage, but when they go to barely leaving a scratch to two-shotting you, it gets a bit ridiculous. What’s worse is the camera zooming so close in the second stages of combat that your own character’s model obscures the enemy, making it so that you can barely read their attacks. To make matters worse, the game would constantly force you to hit “too hard?” before even being allowed to retry any time you game over more than once or twice. Moreover, making Sia playable was completely pointless. Despite the fancy animations and the unique talents that might have well just been added to Siris’s tree, she brought nothing new to the game. All of her weapon types worked practically identically to Siris’s. On a final note, I feel like the devs tried too hard with their last installment then just kind of rushed it midway. They tried turning Infinity Blade into something it isn’t, what made the first two IB’s fun was that everything was straight to the point, dialogue only at key points in the game, a single character, reasonable power-scaling and seamless replayability. At the end of the day though, the game is still enjoyable and I’d rather have a third game than none at all.
