Closed captions always on – hoopla Digital Review

When used with Chromecast from my iPhone the closed captions are always on. The setup option will turn on TWO sets of text. The tech support finally admits the issue that began with an "update" to support Hulu, but as of yet no fix to this feature that makes the movies unenjoyable for me. My work-around is to use an HDMI adapter connected to an iPad running an older version of the app. A klutzy mess of wires, but at least watchable. The other issue is the very poor quality of some of the movies. They look like they were digitized from old and tired VHS dubs. Like my mom would say, "What you get for free is usually worth twice that".
