Really wanted to love this app, it’s just not accurate enough to use regularly. – Dark Sky Weather Review

Dark Sky is a beautifully designed and executed app. It’s functional, beautiful, clean, and pretty effectively marries form and function. If only its data and forecasts were as reliable as its presentation. This is especially true with precipitation prediction. Everyone knows and accepts that meteorology is an incredibly difficult and inexact science, and forecasts are off all the time. But when a major snowstorm is bearing down on the northeast US and every weather outfit (including the National Weather Service) is predicting 12-15 inches and Dark Sky continues to predict 1-2 with rain, you start to question where these guys are getting their sources. And it’s not just one time, either - three consecutive nor’easters from February to March 2018 have been so wildly and spectacularly off that I’ve given up. Even when a “Winter Storm Warning” icon is blazing red on the splash screen, Dark Sky continues to declare a dusting of snow. For a PAID app, I expect both style and function. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how pretty your app is, if the content is flat out wrong. I wish these reviews allowed for screenshots, because I’ve been tracking their asinine predictions for the past month or so. In summary, all I’m asking for is the same level of accuracy as any of the other major weather apps. Dark Sky does not provide that. Despite its high rating, you’re better off looking elsewhere for your weather needs.
