In Memorium – Any.do: To do list & Planner Review

Any.do is like your first car. Despite its flaws, you love it, because it’s simple, it gets the job done, and at that point in your life, you’re not in need of anything else. That is, until you wake up one morning and realize they took the steering wheel from you. And charge you to get it back. I had been a user for years, and even though I came across a glitch almost every day, it was only a minor annoyance, because I liked its interface so much. Never-mind that at times some of my tasks would just completely disappear on their own (which somewhat defeats the point of having a task manager in the first place to remind you of what needs to be done), I stuck with it, and even incorporated the version for my MacBook. But recently, as I was promoting Any.do to my fiancée so we could plan our wedding with the app’s collaboration features, my dark theme went away. When I went to deactivate it, the app demanded that I subscribe to its monthly service. Something that I once had for free, for years, was now gone. This may not seem like a large issue, except for my medical condition, which comes with a frustrating eye sensitivity. I contacted Any.do about the issue, but unfortunately never heard back. There always comes a time that we must trade up, and thankfully, there are plenty of options out there. If a car maker wants to remove features, and start treating their maintenance-heavy product like it’s a BMW, then maybe it’s time for the junkyard. Thanks, Any.do; you got me through a lot of years. I’ll miss you, but I’m very happy with my new set of wheels.
