Plays fine; don’t like the juvenile look and hate the cheering – Yatzy Review

Count me among those who were stunned and shocked by the complete overhaul that Spigo pulled in the July 2017 update. The new look and feel does take some getting used to, particularly with trying to read the available scoring choices. It's not immediately obvious which scoring choices are still available. The numbers in the boxes are a little small, and the grey highlight of the row is too subtle. One weird thing is the box of the last scoring choice you picked is highlighted with a black hairline border during your next turn, which is confusing. When you roll the dice, they land skewed. At first this looks like just a design choice, but look again and you'll see that the angle of the dice is a second way to tell apart which dice you have selected from those you haven't. That feature was very easy to miss. I really like the added strategy of the two new scoring choices, one pair and two pairs. That should be in every version of Yahtzee. But.... I could do without the juvenile Wii-like character that's meant to represent me. It makes the game feel childish. I really really really wish they would enable muting the sound throughout the entire game experience. (You can mute only the background music, not the game play sounds.) I hate the cheering at the end of a game. The February 2018 crashed the app. Had to delete the app and re-install it.
