So far, Quite good – Ripple Player - Your Genius! Review

I've been searching for an app to bring back some of the functionality on my iPhone since the removal of genius in iOS 10 (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :-( ). This app is the best I've found so far for creating coherent playlists from the music in my music library. The algorithm is not quite what genius was, but it's pretty darn good anyway. I do have a few criticisms/questions: 1) The interface overall is a bit quirky. It takes a bit of effort to figure out how to create new playlists. I've also found that when I just want to review a playlist, I end up changing the playlist/song...so it's hard to listen to a whole list without stopping/starting/changing it more than I want. Simply the controls. 2) The "cup of ..." description for the in-app purchases is cute, but kind of inscrutable. I assume I'm maybe gettting more features unlocked if I spring for a "cup of wine" ($7.99) vs. a "cup of tea" (99 cents)?? I don't mind paying more for a good app...but at least describe for me what I'll be getting for what I'm paying. Or if the different levels are just intended to express more or even more levels of gratitude/appreciation, then say that. Right now it's just a mystery. 3) The app changes the color of its menu bar and the color of the iOS header for the app to colors complimentary with the album art. Again, this is nice...except when the color is white type on bright yellow (or some other un-readable color combination). There should be some way to turn that off and just use default OS colors for menus. 4) It's unclear to me how the app is handling the downloaded vs. not-downloaded music in my libarary. It seems that it makes play lists that contain both. But if I only want the downloaded music, how do I force it to use only that? Again, documentation is short for this, and the interface is kind of quirky. 5) Finally, it would be nice to have some way to save playlists the app creates. Similar to how you could make a genius playlist and then save it (as used to be the case in pre-iOS 10 and still IS in iTunes). But overall, this app shows great promise and is good work from the developer. I look forward to future improvements!
