Works, but... – Solar Eclipse Timer Review

So, it was good at finding my location and accurately displaying the times of the different eclipse events for the Great American Eclipse. And once first contact began, it reliably sent notifications to my iPhone 6...up until three minutes before totality. After that, it never sent another notification. It didn't tell me when to remove my eclipse glasses or put them back on, or when to look for the diamond ring or Bailey's Beads. It also never gave me an audible countdown to totality. A few minutes after totality ended, I hit the stop button since it wasn't sending any more notifications anyway. So I was overall disappointed. Was I supposed to leave my phone unlocked and the app running in the foreground after 3min until second contact? My cousin was also using this app on her Galaxy S8 Android phone and it did the exact same thing as mine. We were both let down by it. *UPDATE: In response to the developer's statement below, no I wasn't using the iPhone's camera or any other apps during the eclipse. This app was always running in the foreground except while the phone was locked, so I don't understand why the notifications didn't come through. Also, I corrected my initial review to say that I was using this app on an iPhone 6, not 7. I was actually using my 7 to take pictures, and used the 6 exclusively to run this app. Sorry for any confusion. *UPDATE #2: Maybe it was just user error (meaning me). Once the 3-minutes-till-totality notification occurred, I checked the app and then manually locked my screen to save battery life, thinking there would be more notifications telling me to check the app as totality neared. My guess is that my cousin made the same mistake with her Android phone. Apparently we should have left our phones unlocked from that moment on, in order to hear the audio cues. I hope we remember to do that for the next total eclipse in seven years! Thanks for the helpful info, "Developer". I have changed my rating since it was my fault, not the app's. Still, I think I must have missed the fine print somewhere explaining to me how to correctly use the app near the totality phase. *UPDATE #3: Thank you to the developer for all your helpful insight into my issue. It was indeed my fault for locking my iPhone too close to second contact. It would be very helpful if close to totality, your app would give users a heads-up to leave their phones unlocked surrounding the total phase of the eclipse. Thanks again for taking the time to listen to me & for troubleshooting my problem.
