Good, but badly in need of variety – Elementary Chess Tactics I Review

This app gives a wealth of simple tactics (over 4000 in the full version), which is ideal for learning patterns and improving board vision. Almost half of the tactics are knights forking major pieces. On the one hand, this is helpful for improving knight vision. On the other hand, there are a number of "elementary" combination motifs that have been omitted from the app. There is, for instance, no set for queen forks! This is a huge omission, as beginners can often miss these. There are also no rook forks, or queen pins / skewers. Rook skewers are also largely non-existent (the bulk of that section of the app is devoted to spotting ways a rook can pin a queen to a king). The app will definitely help beginners with their tactical vision, but much more could have been done.
