Not so Great! – FLIR FX Review

Installation was a snap, just point your camera at the QR code on the camera or base and connect to it's WIFI. The rest was easy as pie. I even have my six cameras connected to my extended network so as to cover anywhere on my property. Wow, GREAT! I plan on getting four more, a total of ten cameras. I keep reading about too many false alarms from the cameras even at low sensitivity. Here is a workaround. In the camera settings near the sensitivity slider select the grid. This will open a screen display showing a grid overlay of your current camera view. Select the area of most interest by touching the grid blue, then when you are done checkerboard that blue area turning off more squares. You will be covering the same area but with far less sensitivity. This will greatly reduce false alarms. The app itself? Okay, it needs work but it is a new app (born April 2015) and if I know FLIR Corporate, the world leader in camera surveillance, this app will shine. This camera and app is the one to go on! Go with the best and forget the rest. CHECK OUT FLIR CORPORATE online and you will quickly realize why. UPDATE Wow do not buy this camera. Customer service does not exist. They do not reply to any attempt at contact them. The cameras are badly engineered where they trigger an alert at anything, from the very slightest movement like dust to absolutely anything so that you end up with a non stop continues recording broken up into one minute recordings. Yes that is 1440 one minute recordings every 24 hours. Who has time to watch all that, making this camera useless. I have 6 of them. They have Rapid Recap that you can purchase from them monthly or yearly to strip out all the dead air and leaving just actual events, which is great... when it works. That's right it doesn't work, lol. The Rapid Recap, as they call it, is actually done by a different company called BriefCam (YouTube it) and they do it well. However BriefCam talks to FLIR and FLIR talks to the app and this is where FLIR screws up again. FLIR never tells the app that the Rapid Recap is done and you can't start another Rapid Recap until then. Remember, you must pay for the Rapid Recap service that does not work and like I said, customer service is non existent. They do know how to take your money. I have other security cameras that work just fine 99% of the time so I know that the FLIR FX is just junk.
