Good but not great – Mystery Trackers: Raincliff's Phantoms HD - A Supernatural Detective Game Review

I'll start with a side note – it's time to update the description for this game, because it doesn't involve a missing bus of university students! The actual storyline is interesting enough, though. The graphics, animation and voice acting are fine. I liked the addition of Polaroids that you can use to find hidden stashes. Your pet dog Elf returns, although he is rarely used this time. There is a good blend of HOPs and minigames, although most were a little too easy for me. The negatives concern mostly the controls. You frequently have to mash the screen to get the hidden objects. The map enables teleportation and is supposed to show current tasks, but often it didn't show any available scenes. The inventory is labeled and you can lock the bar in position, which is great; but there is no journal, and you cannot configure difficulty beyond one of three high-level options. I probably won't replay this, but it was worth the $2.99 that I paid on sale.
