Highway robbery! – Escape Adventure Review
If I were to rate this game based solely on the quality of the graphics and the nature of the puzzles, I would give it four stars. You receive nine free scenes in which you play the role of a samurai in training. It is actually quite charming and many of the puzzles require some thought.
If you want to purchase additional bonus packs, the cost is $1.99. This doesn't sound bad, except you only receive six additional puzzles for that price – fewer than the number you played at no charge.
The most horrifying discovery concerned the collectibles that you are encouraged to find in every scene, so that you can enter a secret room for an additional puzzle. I found seven of the nine pieces, and when I watched the help videos, they did not show where the hidden pieces were in the other two scenes. I clicked on the secret room to see what would happen. I was told that I could buy the missing pieces for an additional $7.99!!
Clearly, the developer, Goblin, preys on people who have worked hard to find the collectibles and don't want to miss out on the secret -- and I suspect that children are responsible for most of these purchases. This is such a despicable business practice that I will never purchase anything from this developer. I would give the game one star based on this behavior, but I must acknowledge that the free portion was well done.
