Weak level design – Layerz: Christmas Dominos Review

Well, first off, I have to say this is a really good concept/idea. My problem is the way the game is set up. In 90% of the levels, there is no solution without using power ups. In each game, you might score 100-200 pips. The power ups are disproportionately priced to this, and I find to pass a color, you need to use at least 10-20 power ups, which are 100, 200, and 500 each. In the power ups themselves, the add time is not very useful because you can only use one. Adding tiles is extremely annoying because it just puts them wherever it wants, often not even connected to the tiles you have. Compress tiles is the most useful by far, but is too expensive to use frequently. All this ends up with me grinding for points in a puzzle game. The system needs to be more balanced or have levels that are always possible to beat.
