Perfect for editing my code on the go with my iPad – Git2Go – The Git client you always wanted Review
I had been looking for a decent git client for a while that worked with my older iPad 2 and 3, and decided to give this one a try since it was free for use with Open Source projects. After a bit of a trial, I was impressed. It has a decent built-in code editor that makes it so that I don't have to open any of the repo files in external editors - and this is super important, because most editors don't save back in the proper format, which can really screw with your diffs.
I eventually upgraded to the version that allows interfacing with private repos, and it works just great. I don't understand why people would actually take the time to leave bad reviews solely because the software has a cost. The free version is just fine for Open Source projects, which incidentally is what places like Github were built for in the first place.
There are a few minor issues or features I'd love to see down the road:
* Support for different code syntax highlighting in the editor. There's a basic highlight function in place, but it would be amazing to see something like Markdown support added as a highlight option.
* Better handling of large files in the editor. I have some Markdown files of significant size, and it gets a bit slow when working on them.
