I'm Staying in These Worlds For a Long Time! Great Fun! – World Keepers: Last Resort Free Review

What a nice, refreshing game from one of my favorite developers. The graphics are nicely clear and colorful. The artwork uses decor appropriately relative to the nautical theme as you explore your surroundings through abandoned, decrepit pirate ships. This game contains quite a bit of spook as you travel through misty fog with the threat of menacing monsters, including the mysterious black fog, as well as being startled by the sights of grisly skeletal remains of former crew members. I love how the scenery is embellished with relative details, such as the use of nautical artifacts and debris. I feel immersed within the atmosphere with the use of background noises, such as the creaking of cages rocking back and forth and water flowing. Along your journey, you interact with doll-like characters with special powers of spirits, such as the Ice Spirit, who helps you freeze items in return for a favor. There are several other elemental powers you will use. There are three modes of difficulty excluding an option to customize your settings. The inventory is labeled; no assembly of items has been required thus far. Since there are no voices present, I am happy we have a good journal to read story progression and to store clues. The teleport map, located at the top within the journal, has smooth transition and indicates available tasks. The HOS are word lists with some interaction using items relative to the theme. The puzzles are fun and varied; one type is to choose icons with the same theme as the symbol in the middle. Transition is smooth, and the game is mechanically glitch free. There is no bonus or collectibles; but for the low price, who's complaining. A big gripe is that I was plagued with an onslaught of ads every few minutes; some of us want to play a demo first to decide if we want to purchase. This is why I deducted a star. Well worth the money!
