I'm Staying in These Worlds For a Long Time! Great Fun!

What a nice, refreshing game from one of my favorite developers. The graphics are nicely clear and colorful. The artwork uses decor appropriately relative to the nautical theme as you explore your surroundings through abandoned, decrepit pirate ships. This game contains quite a bit of spook as you travel through misty fog with the threat of menacing monsters, including the mysterious black fog, as well as being startled by the sights of grisly skeletal remains of former crew members. I love how the scenery is embellished with relative details, such as the use of nautical artifacts and debris. I feel immersed within the atmosphere with the use of background noises, such as the creaking of cages rocking back and forth and water flowing. Along your journey, you interact with doll-like characters with special powers of spirits, such as the Ice Spirit, who helps you freeze items in return for a favor. There are several other elemental powers you will use. There are three modes of difficulty excluding an option to customize your settings. The inventory is labeled; no assembly of items has been required thus far. Since there are no voices present, I am happy we have a good journal to read story progression and to store clues. The teleport map, located at the top within the journal, has smooth transition and indicates available tasks. The HOS are word lists with some interaction using items relative to the theme. The puzzles are fun and varied; one type is to choose icons with the same theme as the symbol in the middle. Transition is smooth, and the game is mechanically glitch free. There is no bonus or collectibles; but for the low price, who's complaining. A big gripe is that I was plagued with an onslaught of ads every few minutes; some of us want to play a demo first to decide if we want to purchase. This is why I deducted a star. Well worth the money!

Steampunk pirates - fun adventure

Rating: three and a half stars rounded up to four, based upon the completed game The good: I like the steampunk theme, carried into the imagery of each scene. Decent graphics (although not quite as sharp as I would like). No glitches found in this game. HOGS were mildly interactive. Map can be found at the top of the journal; at bit of a pain to get to, but it made me work a little harder at not relying on it too much. Loved the little Keeper dolls; great sarcastic comments by those little fellas. The bad: no voiceovers, just text to read; some of the text flew by quickly but luckily most of it is captured in your journal. Sadly no collectibles or bonus chapter in this game, but it was a decent length. The ugly: annoying full-page ads take over your screen during the free demo play. You either need to be patient enough to wait to be able to close the dang pop up screen, close and delete the game in disgust or pony up the $2.99 to play without ads. Come on Alawar - do you really need to annoy your customers that much? If the game is good, we'll buy it ...

I love this but...

I love this game but, geez, lay off the pop up ads! It's very annoying. Other than that, it's a great game. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the ads. Update: I'm extremely irritated! I paid the $2.99 not only to continue this game, but to get rid of the stupid ads! I'm on the chapter with the totems and-- guess what?! The ads are back! I don't think I will continue! Thank God this was really cheap!

Note to KimTwilight: I bought this one, Tibetan Quest, and Lost Lands 2 and 3 because of you. Five-BN is amazing! I emailed them because they have a NY Mysteries game (Lantern of Souls) that is unavailable to us in the US! I asked them if they would give it to us and hopefully I can give you an answer. If it wasn't for you and I had to rely solely on BigFish, I would have nothing to play. Thank you for always finding us amazing games by other companies, which BF doesn't distribute. We tend to forget Alawar, G5, Artifex Mundi, etc! Kim, you are the best and even Snooper thanked you for looking out for me! I had a terrible birthday, so reading Snooper's review in Lost Lands 3 really made my day! I will get back to everyone once I play! Ok, this game was decent if you played it for the sale price. It had an interesting storyline, good graphics and exciting cut-scenes. There was a helpful journal with a teleport map, marked if chosen under difficulty settings. There were no collectibles, fine with me. Loading was instantaneous between locations. Inventory was labeled but there were no plus items. The HO scenes were just word lists, boring. The puzzles had some decent ones but also a bunch of boring rotational stuff! The gimmick in this game was that you had 4 dolls to collect, each with a different power, which helped you to overcome monsters and obstacles. The game worked well but it was very short, had no bonus adventure or extras, and lots of rodents running around. So if I had payed more for it I would be upset! For the price and if you're bored, play it! Hopefully I will enjoy the one from Artifex Mundi better. Their games are a lot more sophisticated as a rule! Happy gaming everyone! Lots of ❤️?? to KimTwilight and Snooper!
