Good but.... – 2048 Review

I have two complaints. First, the "personal best scores" feature doesn't actually do that. It only records a new score when it's a new personal best. If you follow such a score with one one point lower, it ignores what is actually your second-best score. So all I really know is what my best is. Second, I don't like the unpredictable nature of where the next tile will appear. I keep my highest tile in the lower-left corner and try to avoid ever swiping up or right. Usually, when I'm forced to swipe up it's because I made a tactical error. But if my bottom row isn't full and I can't swipe down or left, I swipe right if possible. If I'm unlucky my new tile appears in the lower-left corner. In threes, you have a measure of control over where a new tile will appear, but in 2048 it seems completely random. If my highest tile is 1024 or lower, I can usually recover but when it's 2048 or above I seldom succeed. I haven't figured out a way to prevent this and it's frustrating because it's inherently a good game in progress when it happens.
