Really good RDP – Remotix VNC, RDP & NEAR Review

I've been using this for a few weeks and it is by far the easiest and best layout RDP client for iOS I have found. Pros: -Fast (at least compared to a lot of clients I've tried, paid and fee) -Easy server setup (even finds the servers for you on a LAN and if they are connectable through the ports (default 3389. Port can be changed in setting.) -Very functional controls (Directional Pad, all standard keys, and even keys for the cut, copy, paste keyboard shortcuts so you don't have to use ctrl) -Same as most RDP clients and a plus over all other protocols I've tried: plays sound over the client and not the host and locks the screen to the computer instead of showing everything you are doing remotely. You are pretty much at your computer except you can't do some setting changes (like display, no brainer) or shutdown/restart (just disconnect, but you can make a batch file to do so. Not recommended for security reasons.) Optical drive access can be done by a policy change on the host, but is disabled by default. Cons -Still choppy whether it is on my iPad 3 (expected) or my iPhone 6 Plus (Not expected, but lot less than iPad). That is even with all the extra visuals turned off. (Host is an Octo-Core AMD w/ 32Gb RAM and Giganet. iPhone connected through AC 5ghz while iPad connected through N 2.4Ghz.) But as I said, still faster than the ones I have tried. -Directional pads only work once and not repeating. Very annoying to have to constantly touch a small arrow to select an address when double clicking doesn't want to cooperate. Could be an iOS thing, though. Not bases of my rating, but needed mentioning. -Will not work on Plex sign-in (at least if user is set with pin) will not register the keys in the input boxes in chrome. Could be a limitation outside Remotix and not reasoning for rating, but needed mentioning. -Dashlane will only be active as an extension to a web browser IF Remotix is the first to log into the system. If you log into from the computer, the extension is disabled, but access to Dashlane program and standard copy paste is not lost. Just auto-fills and logins. Have not tried logging out of the computer then relogging back in from Remotix. If that works, then it is an annoyance of Dashlane or something else. Same disclaimer as above. - Shift remains locked once pushed. The only indication is the black lettering turns blue on the screen the key is on. If you reduce it or switch to keyboard, there isn't a notification it is still on. I feel it should be one click for once, dbl click for lock with a notification on the right stating it is locked similar to the pop up msg that says item is copied to clipboard, but constant until shift lock is turned off. -Only one ctrl key. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but most virtual machines have right-ctrl as a host key to operate outside of the virtual PC. This app does not operate that way. If you are stuck in the virtual PC by keyboard or mouse, you have to login to the computer and get you out. Overall, I would recommend this app. It is well designed despite a few quarks and worth the price tag.
