Excellent VNC Client - Includes LAN Scanner

uber_gadgetz

This VNC client is excellent. I just wish I'd found it before paying for the Jump VNC client. Jump was very disappointing because it did not include a LAN scanner...meaning you need to know the IP address of your target machines (huge pain) OR install Jump's VNC server on each target machine (again, huge PAIN). Furthermore, In my view, installing a 3rd party VNC server on each target machine is totally unnecessary (at least for OSX machines - they ship with a VNC server already). With LAN scanner function I get a list of all my computers currently on the network, and to connect all I do is tap on one of the machines and enter its login credentials...so easy a cave man could do it!

screen sharing

CommNetTech

Great for remote management and screen sharing configuration on Mac. This virtual network controller is secured with Secure Shell (SSH) program, which offers strong computer to machine authentication. SSH encrypts data in a Virtual tunnel, which protects your data. It has Remotix Cloud for Internet screen sharing, bonjour, LAN, Add Scanner, and Net Bios.

Been using it for ages- the best

Chris2furr

I sold my laptop, because now I can use my 3 screen workhorse iMac at home from wherever I want. Just great.

Not quite there

ChristianSpence

It's fast, it's mostly feature rich. BUT, and modern RDP app must have RDP Gateway support. After spending over $100 on Mac and IOS apps I'm going back to Jump Desktop.

Great app

I have been using Remotix on the Mac for a long time and love it. Happy I caught the BLack Friday sale to buy the iOS version. I have an iPad Pro and I am disappointed that this does not fully support the iOS 9 multitasking split view mode. Please add this support. If it gains the split view and slide over support then my rating will go to 5 stars.

Great

Been using this app for 3+ year to monitor a Mac network and it works flawlessly.

Better Than Most

PapaRaven

Thus far this is the best app when the iPad Pro has a hardware keyboard but, really, the on-screen-keyboard keyboard needs updating. Remotix feels unusable when using the oversized old-on-screen-keyboard. So for now I find Remoter Pro is better for the iPad Pro when using a lighter (read: no hardware keyboard) case. Sadly for Remoter Pro it is not half as responsive as Remotix. So here are two simple requests: 1. Please provide the more svelte keyboard that other apps for iPad Pro have adopted. 2. Please provide solitary dedicated F bar, i.e. F1, F2, .. F12, as an option for when that iPad Pro *is* connected to a hardware keyboard (no edge-powered keyboards have F keys yet :( ) _____________________ PREVIOUS REVIEW: Good VNC + RDP app. I just need this for use from the couch, supper table, etc. -- only so I don't have to always sit at my desk at home. VNC: All these remote apps have bugs and this one is no exception. If your desktop has two monitors with different resolutions then you will be fighting a Remotix-cursor-calibration-bug. The work-around is simply to unplug one of the monitors. The connection also drops, at least when I'm mucking about with the settings non-stop, but I can do the same with any other similar app (to each their own talents, eh?).. When employing the work-around above, choosing the lower resolution monitor to unplug works best since you have more options for resolutions that way, and if are working from a device with Retina Display you'll need those higher resolutions. Install "Display Menu" on your Mac to get the "size" and "shape" that suites you. RDP: The MS app works just fine for this, but the Remotix app takes care of RDP just as well, and why bother having two apps that do the same job, right? Creating different resolutions for RDP is a no-brainer since RDP is a better protocol all around, but Remotix still gets points for keeping its UI clear and simple. Documentation: Meh. If you have to read an excessive amount of documentation, there is something lacking in the software. But Remotix could have more .. front and center. I didn't look too hard in the docs but just the same I only *accidentally* discovered that a Right-Click was achieved with a two-fingered-tap. I'm too happy about that feature to further criticize the docs. Display: To get text and icons on your remote desktop to be big enough to manage, you have to lower the remote resolution. The result being that your remote session appears fuzzy. There are other approaches but none that work real well. Arguably this is not the failing of the remote client software but the OS itself, since [particularly with OS X] creating a remote-friendly desktop scheme has never been the aim of our OS overlords. At some point they have to get on the ball though, because they can sell twice as much system software and hardware if they better marry the remote and desktop system. So let us see which OS company gets to that point first. :)

Really good RDP

SdwHwk

I've been using this for a few weeks and it is by far the easiest and best layout RDP client for iOS I have found. Pros: -Fast (at least compared to a lot of clients I've tried, paid and fee) -Easy server setup (even finds the servers for you on a LAN and if they are connectable through the ports (default 3389. Port can be changed in setting.) -Very functional controls (Directional Pad, all standard keys, and even keys for the cut, copy, paste keyboard shortcuts so you don't have to use ctrl) -Same as most RDP clients and a plus over all other protocols I've tried: plays sound over the client and not the host and locks the screen to the computer instead of showing everything you are doing remotely. You are pretty much at your computer except you can't do some setting changes (like display, no brainer) or shutdown/restart (just disconnect, but you can make a batch file to do so. Not recommended for security reasons.) Optical drive access can be done by a policy change on the host, but is disabled by default. Cons -Still choppy whether it is on my iPad 3 (expected) or my iPhone 6 Plus (Not expected, but lot less than iPad). That is even with all the extra visuals turned off. (Host is an Octo-Core AMD w/ 32Gb RAM and Giganet. iPhone connected through AC 5ghz while iPad connected through N 2.4Ghz.) But as I said, still faster than the ones I have tried. -Directional pads only work once and not repeating. Very annoying to have to constantly touch a small arrow to select an address when double clicking doesn't want to cooperate. Could be an iOS thing, though. Not bases of my rating, but needed mentioning. -Will not work on Plex sign-in (at least if user is set with pin) will not register the keys in the input boxes in chrome. Could be a limitation outside Remotix and not reasoning for rating, but needed mentioning. -Dashlane will only be active as an extension to a web browser IF Remotix is the first to log into the system. If you log into from the computer, the extension is disabled, but access to Dashlane program and standard copy paste is not lost. Just auto-fills and logins. Have not tried logging out of the computer then relogging back in from Remotix. If that works, then it is an annoyance of Dashlane or something else. Same disclaimer as above. - Shift remains locked once pushed. The only indication is the black lettering turns blue on the screen the key is on. If you reduce it or switch to keyboard, there isn't a notification it is still on. I feel it should be one click for once, dbl click for lock with a notification on the right stating it is locked similar to the pop up msg that says item is copied to clipboard, but constant until shift lock is turned off. -Only one ctrl key. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but most virtual machines have right-ctrl as a host key to operate outside of the virtual PC. This app does not operate that way. If you are stuck in the virtual PC by keyboard or mouse, you have to login to the computer and get you out. Overall, I would recommend this app. It is well designed despite a few quarks and worth the price tag.

VNC is partially broken

arostad

It seems like this company has given up on this project. I've contacted support a few times asking when they are going to fix their iOS app and Mac app so it will connect to the latest RealVNC server and they keep saying they're working on it but that was a couple months ago and still no resolve.

Excellent program!

Does everything I want and expect it to do. Without a fuss or unnecessarily indirect methods. Highly recommend it.
