Fun, but stiff... – Yurei Ninja Review

Just as the header says. This game actually revs up pretty nicely after a bit, and the designs in general are pretty cool. Unfortunately, the controls feel stiff, and occasionally they're wonky enough that they don't respond correctly. The shuriken attack is particularly bad; it only seems to work when it feels like working. Not only is the distance trigger not consistent, but sometimes it doesn't respond even when the icon appears. And they could at least tell you how new enemy types work before they kill you. Seriously, you tell me to slide into Berserkers AFTER one bowls me over? Come on. So, yeah, the controls need tightening. And, honestly, some of the graphics look silly for this generation. That may seem like a minor gripe, but there're other runners that have more fluid animations than this one that're a lot older. It looks clunky...especially during the end of every mission when your character turns around. It's supposed to look cool, but it's hard to look cool when your head's clipping through your body as it ponderously rotates on its axis like someone's twisting a doll's head off. And the clunky graphics kill any and all possibility of the Oni looking threatening. His awkward, stiff-hipped shuffle looks like a 90-year-old man cranked to fast-forward. It's almost hilarious. This is a good game, but it definitely needs serious tweaking to make it more streamlined.
