Reviews

Pretty Good
Abcteacher

It's good, but I wish it had the option of moving to the next letter automatically after you made the letter correctly.

Great handwriting app
Momof2boys26

This is a great app not only for handwriting but for letter recognition also. My son loves the pencil guy - very clever.

Good app, but...

I think that the instruction for the sequence of writing the letter should run for a longer amount of time or be less specific. Good idea though.

It's ok
Lavonnie1984

You just really have to follow tracing instructions it doesn't matter if you trace it differently and perfect it is incorrect unless you follow there outline other than that it good

Nice app...but could use a revision...

App only runs in portrait mode which is fine. However, when you use the video button feature to show how a letter is supposed to be drawn, the video plays in landscape mode which forces a user to turn the device to view letters in the correct orientation. I find it very awkward. I'm not sure why the developers chose to do it this way since there is plenty of room to show videos in portrait mode.

User-friendly
Bryson's mom.

User-friendly enough for my 5 year old. Needs revision though. I wish you would be able to advance to the next letter.

No sound option
mn junkie

I would have given it 5 stars if two things were added. If there was a game or quiz and if there was an option to turn off all of the sound in the application I would have given 5 stars. A quiz/game could be as simple as letter identification, matching uppercase and lowercase letter to each other or showing someone writing the letter in more than one way and the child picking the correct way.

Useless
Jken4

This app is totally useless. What a waste of money. The free handwriting apps are better than this one from the supposed "leader in handwriting instruction". I was so hopefully about this app, but what a disappointment! I purchased it because Zaner-Bloser is the style that my son is learning in school and I thought it would help him. The problem is that when tracing the letters, there is no boundary within which the tracing must be to be correct. As long as you start around the beginning dot you can scribble all over the page and just lift your finger where the tracing should stop and when you check you work it will say "Well Done"! My son thinks it's funny to see how much he can scribble on the page and still get "Well Done" when he checks his work. The game they use to entertain the child is also lame. There is not much to this app at all and it certainly doesn't warrant having to pay for what it is. I really hope the developer reads this and reworks this app. Save your money for something else until then.

Could use some tweaking
Gcslaughter

I like the layout of the app. I have found that if I use the check function, it does require a fair amount of accuracy to have it be marked correct. Here's what I'd like to see added: 1. The ability to have more than one account. I work with a number of student's. it would be nice to have a separate account for each one. 2. The ability to track progress 3. Practice for the introductory strokes (circle back, pull down, etc) for younger students 4. Maybe even some little videos of some of the songs

Not too happy
Mandywa

Handwriting Without Tears is much for user friendly for a toddler who is wanting to learn to write. Too many steps and not a good demonstration. I wish I could get a refund.
