Cloud saves non-functional, otherwise good port of a great game

If you’d like to play on multiple devices, cloud saves appear to be non-functional. Your saves will be backed up to iCloud, but you won’t be able to load those saves on any other iPad or iPhone. Additionally, there doesn’t appear to be any way to get PC -> iOS saves to transfer. Feral publishes instructions on their website to do this, but those instructions appear to not work. Tested across 3 different devices and 1 PC. Otherwise, a good port of a great game.

I’ve been waiting for the sequel to get ported over and I scooped it up as soon as I saw it. It crashed a couple of times but nothing major. This game is great. Huge step up from the last XCOM. Can’t wait for the next XCOM to come to IOS.

Feels very poorly optimized for iOS (poor power usage give the level of graphics). This might be Unreal engines fault, but I’d love to hear what the devs think. Fantastic game overall. I really hope the devs spend some serious effort getting an optimized engine in place or there won’t be much future for this type of port. I suspect it’s technical debt all the way down. I’d bet good money management is really failing the devs and users here.

The bitter ashes of defeat

If you enjoy the bitter ashes of defeat, buy this game. Playing it on standard difficulty is punishing. It’s almost impossible to get through a mission without losing a squad member. The enemies are overpowered and the units you get are pathetically weak to start. I enjoyed XCOM so much and was excited to get this new game, but I am regretting spending so much on it. There’s no ramp up to improve your units like there was in the original. This game seems to hate its players. ?

Great game but reached a point it always crashes

The game is great but I reached a point where I have to kill one of the enemy units and it always crashes at that point. I can’t continue the game.

I loved Xcom 1 and also love the 2nd one in my opinion this one is better and just really an amazing game altogether

Tested on ipad air 3rd gen. Played up past hoard intro so far. No crashes. Load times are quick. Maybe around 5-10 secs. I was there for the first xcom ipad rollout, and the initial xcom 2 rollout on mac. This port’s performance is like night and day compared the challenges with the earlier releases. Vastly superior. Its pretty jarring playing this game without bugs, while on a mobile device. XD

UPDATE: Customer service helped me find that if i close all other apps, remove the iPad from its case and place it on a cold table, then i can play it without crashing. I’m using an iPad 7th Gen, and it certainly isn't optimized for it. I can make it work, but i would recommend the console or PC version instead if you have a 7th gen ipad. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I love this game, that’s why I played about 50 hours of this version even though the would crash on me constantly. And I’m playing it on an 7th Gen iPad, IOS 14.something, which it says is supported. In the beginning, it crashed a few times. But then it kept getting worse, and now, it won’t play past a single turn. I kept playing because it’s an amazing game and this port is done perfectly...except that i can’t even play it anymore because of it constantly crashing. The game has now crashed on me more times than i can count. I sent a crash report every time and tried to contact customer service multiple times with only one response. And even that response was just to get more info from me. I’ve asked for a refund or a solution and haven’t heard back yet, if I could play this without it crashing, I would change this to a 5-star review

Must Buy for Sure!

Incredible in every way possible. If you like a challenge then buy this! It’s not cheap but the game is completely worth it. This plays perfectly on the iPhone 11, I actually prefer it over my ps4 version.
