Sorry, lousy

waldo192

This looked interesting... but when I went to Zen mode, random..... NONE IF THE WIRD WERE VALID! Words like Quip duo Tee What the heck? Not gonna waste my time trying to figure out why real words don't count

Almost great— please put on the finishing touches!

I recently discovered WordHue and I'm a little obsessed with it, though not exactly sure why. Maybe because I don't quite understand the scoring but sometimes get everything just right and score super high. Maybe because the interface is pretty. Maybe because I figure out something new almost every day. I've deleted and reinstalled the game twice just to start over with the color schemes as I learned. Unfortunately there are some problems with the game's functionality that need to be fixed for this app to be successful. Swiping letters to draw words sometimes lags, creating too short words that go black for the penalty. Occasionally the game freezes all together and has to be restarted, sometimes more than once. The sound effects on swiping words randomly change. The dictionary desperately needs an update— it's missing tons of standard words. The scoring needs better explanation and it's hard to tell if some words score correctly or not. For instance, I just noticed the same word re-scores (doesn't count as duplicate) as long as one letter in the word is on a different tile. So where adjacent tiles are the same letter, I can get a lot of extra points for re-using the same word (though that can bite you on the butt and end the game, too). Is this intentional or an error? Who knows... All I know is I keep playing. That tells me this game has great potential. If the Developer spends some time refining this one, he could have a hit. And I hope he does because frankly, it gets harder and harder to find a decent new word game. I don't want to play with friends. I don't want to use Facebook. I don't want to be limited by "energy." I don't want to play levels that aren't random but instead require paid power-ups. I do want to be challenged. I do like leaderboards and achievements and Game Center. I do happily pay for additional level packs when I like a game.

Great game, innovative concept

Word game with an interesting and innovative approach. Daily puzzle, which is great fun. Give this game a try, highly recommended.

Fun game

The scoring is complicated but makes sense once you get it. Global scores is broken.

Too much going on

Lissaluu78

There's too many rules to keep track of & it's just kinda boring.

Really great, but it needs enhancements

I love word games and this is one of my favorites in a long time! BUT... it needs a few things to really make it great. First, as others have stated, the rules are unclear. How are turns earned and what earns more? What causes tiles to change in the bonus round? Why do longer words sometimes add a DW or TW and sometime just replace an existing one? A page should be added that clearly details all of the rules. Second, you either need to add an "undo" option or a "submit" button to prevent against accidentally submitting a two-letter word. This happened to me several times as I was trying to "un-drag" a word and totally ruined what would have been a good score. Third, I would like to be able to see what the score would be for a word I'm dragging out before I commit to it. (Almost all scrabble-like games have this functionality). And lastly, please improve the dictionary- there are words I've played in Scrabble and WWF that are not considered words in this game (and I am not talking about obscure words!). Thank you for creating this game - I do really enjoy it and will continue to play despite these shortcomings!

Not Zen

i Love iToys

I love word games. The effort of getting to a diagonal letter is tedious. It is not a feeling of Zen at all carefully dragging a diagonal, picking up an unwanted letter, undragging, redragging, accidentally letting go, and still messing up a long word -- argh!! Deleting.

Needs updating

Many rather obscure words are declared invalid and some stupid combinations are allowed - just got dinged when I mistakenly touched "TN" which is mysteriously allowed but I was penalized for the two-letter word.

Developer is unreachable, so I'm hoping he looks here.

I just downloaded the game and have played it a few times, and have encountered a bug which makes it difficult and at times impossible to play: moving diagonally selects letters I don't want to select. I spend most of my time backing up, trying to get the word I want, over and over and over. Perhaps don't make the entire square selectable, but rather shrink the active area in each direction by four pixels? So the selectable area is smaller by 16 pixels? That might help with the selection problem. I'd also like to ask for a feature: perhaps you can keep a running list of the words we've selected in small type? (I realize there's not enough real estate for ALL of them, so perhaps the last twelve?) As it is, I can't remember sometimes whether I've played a word, and I believe that repeating a word costs me a turn. I think this game has great potential, but so long as I spend the majority of my time backing up, trying in vain to select the letters I mean to, it's gonna remain a frustration, and I'll end up playing some of my other word games. (I own a lot. ☺) It holds great promise, and I think I'll enjoy the heck out of it once I'm able to make words easily! Keep up the great work! ?? I'll revisit my review and star rating if it becomes easier to select words. Oh, rats: I just realized I took the time to write a fairly lengthy review for an abandoned (or back-burnered) game; it hasn't been updated in a year. It's a shame, because it has great potential. Sigh.

Enjoying this one.

It gets my brain up and running first thing in the morning. That’s an important game issue for us old folks! LOL. I have the same problems that many others wrote about, so I’ll not repeat. I just read one review that says this is an abandoned game. DRAT!!! Would be nice if a game designer would make up the same game with the issues fixed. Better dictionary, ways to enter words and not enter finger slips, rules and tips, even if posted on a different site, etc. I’d really love this game and it would be worth 5 stars (really 10 stars) all fixed up. My brain thanks you for the work done so far, and I’ll continue playing keeping these issues in mind.
