Playing The Game

Both children and adults will enjoy playing the Word Search Vocabulary Building Game. The game automatically generates a puzzle in your preferred language, so all you need to do is drag your finger across words as you discover them.

If you can’t find all of the words, press the hint button. But use your hints wisely—you only get two hints per puzzle. The game automatically ends and updates your statistics when you find every word in the puzzle.

In Newspaper section, user can get latest news everyday and play with the words. Even at the end of game play, user can see the news details.

After the game, you can bookmark words you didn’t know or look them up in the built-in English dictionary and hear the pronunciation. You can also email yourself bookmarked words from within the game so you can add them to a desktop study tool.

As your statistics improve, look for your name on the Games Center Leaderboard for each of the languages you use—see if you can become the Word Search World Champion! For hardcore gamer you can play real time online multiplayer game with others.

Learning Arabic

I’m in the process of teaching myself Arabic and found this app. It’s helping me learn to dissect combined words and then find the individual letters on the word grid. The app works flawlessly and, in my humble opinion, is a marvel considering the languages being used in one app. This must take a lot of time to make it work so smoothly. I have yet to experience problems with it freezing or shutting down unexpectedly. It also opens quickly without delay. I have a lot of fun running my fingers down the grid to see how the individual letters (in Arabic) will combine in different ways. In Arabic, the letters will change depending upon where it falls in the word. When you tap & drag, the letter combinations will show up above the grid and I have learned a few unexpected letter combos (in Arabic) while doing this. I notice the app does this ( having the letter combo above the grid as you look for a word) for all the languages it contains so this is a nice feature. The Arabic font of the word list is tiny, even on my iPad. It could be that I’m older but it would be nice to be able to zoom in a bit. My work around is I take a snapshot of the app interface and use the picture in my photo folder to zoom in that way so I may figure the words out. The font used for German, Italian, English, Spanish, etc are perfectly fine, even on my iPhone, so it’s obviously an issue for a non-native reader such as myself but I thought I’d bring it up. The Arabic letters are not horizontal like you see in teaching textbooks but slant with letters somewhat on top of each other. I assume this is how most people native to the language read the words. I rather enjoy this as it increases the complexity of the app and is helping me learn more about the written language but may frustrate those learning the language. I don’t see a way to save my progress. That would be a nice option. It’s not a killer issue as I’m not obsessed with “winning” but to some I’m sure it would be a bother. I really like this app.

I use to enjoy this App. Prior to the constant advertisements that prove impossible to close when clicking on the X. The advertisements stay open for a very long time after clicking the X or it switches to another advertising.
