I booked with Big Apple car service over the phone at the suggestion of a colleague. I arrived from Chicago into JFK and had a text from them with a link to track my driver which also gave me the option to download the whisk app which I did without having to enter any information. I use it regularly and love it both for business and personal travel. The only i improvement I would request is having more inventory In northern Manhattan.

I used the Whisk app to book a trip from my office to La Guardia after my coworker told me about it. I found that the app's user experience is up there with that of Lyft and Uber but the driver was friendlier and more professional plus he knew the best route to take from my office where I was picked up. I want to use the Whisk app exclusively but they don't appear to have enough cars/coverage yet.

My employer just started using Big Apple Car for car service. After my admin booked my ride the other night I got a text with a link to download this app. Pretty cool as it let me see my driver's location. It took a bit to get my car but the driver was extremely courteous and the app was great. Will definitely use this app again!

I've been using Whisk during business trips to NYC over the past year. Every time I go back, there are way more cars than the time before. Now below Central Park it's actually to a point where I assume there's good coverage most times of the day. JFK and LGA often have available cars (not sure about EWR). We were in West Village on a Friday night with lots of occupied cabs passing by, didn't want to deal with it in the cold, so after dinner while paying the check, I tapped a button, got a car confirmed, and sat inside while watching him drive to us. Midtown and Times Square are usually solid -- all week after work, it was late and we didn't feel like taking the subway tired in the cold, so we tried Whisk since riding back in a cushy black car is really pleasant in that situation. There were Uber cars around, but at this point I'm hesitant to use it lest they surge me or whatever. Whisk has been reasonable and usually pretty close to a cab fare, maybe a little more sometimes which I was okay paying when cabs were a pain. One really cool thing was that even when there wasn't a car around, it has this feature where it asks if you want to be queued up, keeps looking for a car to come by, and texts you if it finds one. It was slick because we were like, sure why not, kept packing up our stuff at office before braving the cold, and then boom - it actually texted back saying a car is on the way. That seems like a nicer way to deal with supply shortages than "surging" like 7x the fare :) It would be nice if the app gave a fare estimate up front, but then again not all the ride apps do that, and a cab doesn't either. It has flat fares to the airports, which was pretty nice once when traffic was really bad. Drivers have been pretty good and professional. They keep getting better compared to last year - maybe they were getting used to it back then. For me, these are the key benefits of an app like this: * watch the car coming instead of talking through a dispatcher and having no idea where it is * no hassle of paying and mentally calculating a tip while getting out of the car There's a new unlimited ride pass feature I'll probably try next time I'm there. I know a guy who's been using it every day to commute. There's also a Day Pass which should be cool for getting to meetings while visiting. The app itself is fine. I like the credit card scanner so you don't have to punch in the number. I used it while standing around in baggage claim. I'm not sure why more apps don't have it. Try it out the next time you need a cab in Manhattan. Hopefully, the coverage will expand to more of the city soon. UPDATE 8/8/2016: I experienced this "auto-magical" text link they send to track the driver for a corporate ride. I have to say it was really slick. I've never seen it any app, though it would be great if more apps had it. It's like it knew who I was based on the reservation booked at the car service provider. It made it painless to get into the app the very first time.
