Great!

Love the app!

They should rebrand to “buggy, G-rated dating”

This app as it currently stands is a pretty terrible piece of software. I'm a paying customer (Dekadom), whatever, I mean, they really might as well just offer this as the price of the app ($9.99) since you can't actually contact anyone without it. I get the intention is to get free downloads and users to inflate their userbase, but what really matters to us users in this kind of app is real users using it. So yeah, $10 is the price of admission and I’m generally fine with that… If the app wasn't so terrible. On an iPhone X I get multiple crashes of this app a day, even using it just a few minutes at a time. Luckily, crashes don't really impede usage of the app so much, but it's really embarrassing how much the app crashes given how stable most iOS apps are. Code and UI is not up to par here either. Editing your profile is dicey-- most of the time it won't even save what you type into About me, and even if it does, you'll probably check later and notice all that text you typed in has disappeared again. And you'll type it in again, and it will disappear again. What's comical about this is then the app will constantly nag you about "completing" your profile and you'll first notice you can't complete more than 95% (so this bar will never disappear no matter what), but then since your information periodically disappears you'll notice it go down more often than it goes up. And tapping the link on the bar does nothing and they don’t highlight what’s missing on your profile even if it did properly take you there. While you're dealing with these sorts of issues, you'll notice things like your height is displayed as "lbs" or the fact that there's no "Done" button to save changes if you open your profile to edit it from the full screen menu versus tapping your own photo and editing your profile from that view. (Despite showing the same information, it seems like two different developers worked on each view independently without the other's knowledge.) You'll constantly swipe left to go back to the previous view (as per modern iOS UI conventions), but instead the app will take you to the profile previous in the list of profiles. I doubt this behavior is intentional software design and I think it's probably an unintended result of their middleware they use to port their code to iOS. Also maddening is how tiny the tap target is for the back button to take you back to the previous view-- you'll often tap the back button but instead be shuttled to photos or whatever. I say often, but sometimes it happens 3, 4, 5 times in a row even when you are intentionally staring at the screen and trying to tap that tap target. I could go on and on and on, but honestly, I'm not being paid to test their software and I'm also not an iOS developer-- for a "1 Million downloads" app it's pretty shameful how transparent the bugs are in this code and how often they impact the user experience. I'm guessing they use some kind of development environment that just ports the code to iOS for them, because I can't imagine them implementing some of the UI behaviors on purpose. The app asks for permission to send you notifications, but does so randomly. So you may get the notification for a message you've already read over and over again, or receive it days after reading the message. And whatever system they have in place for sending password recovery emails doesn't seem to be working, and I use the same webmail everybody else does. Which is a problem I suppose, if I ever lose my password, because I'll lose access to my "Dekadom" unlock. Other things I find weird about this app are how it purports to be for "kinky dating" but it doesn't allow adult photos-- this in particular is hilarious, as they seem to autofilter out "adult images" (guess what it works about as well as the rest of the app) and are thus stricter than say, Instagram would be. (So their “kinky photo feed” is less risqué than Instagram — why bother) It also doesn't stray from a G rating in terms of "fetishes" (the g-rated list is completely bizarre and makes me wonder if the person picking the final list even speaks native English), and doesn't even seem to allow "adult language" in your profile. The cumulative impact of all these decisions to sanitize the app for the masses (for VC?) means that it's basically become a storefront for "women" (with, you guessed it, fake photos from Google Images, etc.) asking you to send them gift cards or trying to shuttle you off to their camsite/etc. to get you to pay for chatting or videos. Some of this can be expected, because blah blah blah, they'll say they cannot do anything about it, but their monetization and development decisions are driving this to app to basically be a storefront for camgirls and scammers looking to make a buck. With all that said, if they fixed all the bugs, maybe it would be fine, I dunno.

Not worth it.

Whiplr is one of the most glitchy apps I’ve ever used in my life. The distance between users is not accurate people who are a few miles away for me it says they are 500+ miles away. My height is displayed in pounds so it’s impossible to tell how tall anyone else’s either unless it’s specifically listed in their profile. You have to wait for profile pictures to be approved even if they aren’t ones that show nudity they might be declined and you would have to list it as a private photo which is annoying. To me it seems like they aren’t interesting in fixing any of this either. Will probably delete it since the entire point is to find people near me.

Keeps crashing

est-sweetheart

So I keep getting logged out of the app and then it won’t let me log back in.

No updates!

Damon016

Apps been up and down for a bit. Nice to get an update

Scam

Don’t pay for the lifetime subscription. You’ll start getting messages by a lot of people and you’ll think I should pay so I can reply. They are bots. They see you are new and message you if you wanna be a sub and then demand you pay them. This is just as bad if not worse then tinder. Save your money and time.

Enjoyable but.....

ichigo4932

I enjoy the app and it is effective in finding what I’m looking for, however there are bugs that need fixed an more people need to get on for it to really turn into something very effective. Bugs and traffic are my only complaints.

Promising yet awful

mr. bad mood

This is a terrible app with a good goal in mind. But it’ll never serve as a place for kinksters to connect until it overhauls its terrible user interface and offers a consistent and thorough search engine. Right now it’s a a frustrating and disappointing user experience.

Reviews are a lie

The Ax-man

This app practically has no support which means it almost never works. So let’s be real, those 5 star reviews are paid for.
