Good Concept, Horrible Management

The app provides what seems like a heaven for those who are into the BDSM genre. Cool concept indeed, with a lot of active members, or so it seems. However, problems start to surface as soon as you realize that the app is heavily regulated by bizarre rules, and nazi dictators making decisions on what you can or cannot do. The biggest joke, the straw the broke the camel’s back for me, is when two of my three profile photos were “disapproved” - clear head-on photos showing my face, very presentable, very reserved. Yet most of their photos members (that somehow got approved!) are shady photos not even showing the faces of the members. Fast forward, you start joining groups, and all of a sudden your posts get deleted by whoever nazi is running the show. For absolutely no reason. And then you will run into the “spammers”. One member on some Los Angeles group was kind enough to warn me about the presence of these lurkers, who pull your leg into giving away your info, and your private photos, only to start blackmailing you thereafter. I certainly ran into a bunch of these. The question is, why do the app managers allow these spammers in the app, when they can easily identify them?! The app is FULL of bugs, from pics and attachments posting or not posting randomly, to not seeming to ever find a way to switch notifications on my iPhone on, to not being able to save parts of my profile after spending a lot of time typing it in. Cool concept, created and run by the wrong minds.

App has a decent and engaging interface. Yet it’s rather saturated with bots which makes using the app more of an annoyance than a dating service.

Legit just needs an update.

You’ll meet a lot of people, but a) the messaging / chat function is complete crap (won’t let you see messages) and b) the notification function is buggy. If you join a group you get notifications every time someone breathes. Annoying AF

I gave this app a bad review for it being such a scam that is full of fake profiles and received a private rebuke from Sabrina of the Whiplr team. Let me be clear: I’ve taken many screenshots of message exchanges with people using fake profiles on this site. Many of these ‘profiles’ want you to contact them on Kik (a site that’s well known for illegal activity) and many times the person messaging cannot form complete sentences in English although they claim to be in Indiana. At the very least, the Whiplr team may not officially allow fake profiles but they but they’re not actively policing them. Don’t take my word for it, read the other reviews. Save your money and don’t waste it on this app. Don’t worry Whiplr team, I’ll show myself the door. “Actually, we do not allow fake profiles, and it is a part of our T&C. If you do find a fake profile we missed, please report it and we will check it on our side, and block it, if necessary. All the best, Sabrina The Whiplr Team”

So I have used many social apps, many more fetish ones. And in all my time and having detailed profile, I’ve never had 6 new people interested (meaning sending me messages) within 2hrs I’d joining. I suspect it’s the actual developers doing this. That they are making you seem desired so you’ll pay and sign up. I’ve been on this app before about a year ago, and i got more messages in 1 hr than a full year. Do not use this app, do not get suckered into paying for it.

The nominal $10 charge for unlimited interaction seems like a good deal at first. Unfortunately the 5 invitations to chat I get everyday are obviously fishing bots. The same script every time: Hi, I'm good thanks, do you want to be a slave, okay, where are you from? Regardless of what you write back to them. (Not even sophisticated bots.)These profiles have one or two pics (sometimes not of the same person) and no Bio at all. Obviously the devs don't care. Unless your kink is giving strangers money, sign up for fetlife. The guidelines for picture posting is ridiculously strict. I can't have a picture of some rope wrapped around my hand. I can't have drawings of women who are clothed in an artistic Shibari rope design. As a matter fact there can't be anything to do with rope apparently. Not nudes mind you just tastefully drawn, clothed pieces of art. And just to drive home the point that the Devs don't care, when they ask you why you are deleting your account they only give you 140 characters. Obviously they want to hear everything you have to say. If I could get this app taken down for being fraudulent instead of giving it one star, I would.
