Washington Post Select is free iOS app published by The Washington Post Company

The Washington Post is a wonderful newspaper, and I wish I could subscribe in print. The problem with this app is that it is not customizable. I am a Nats fan, the hometown team, and in the sports section it does not show the same articles I can read on the internet. In short, the content is good but the app is really awful.

The Washington Post is a great newspaper and has been doing a heroic job holding the traitor-in-chief accountable for his disastrous actions. The app is wonderful too, but it keeps crashing. Every time I open and scan it, the app closes. This has been happening since the most recent iOS upgrade. It’s been months, long enough to fix the bug. When this bug is fixed, I will gladly upgrade the app to 5 stars.

I use their app on a new digital-only subscription. * their Contact Us segment is cumbersome and usually not successful. * If you switch (iPad) apps, like to check your email, when you come back it’s like restarting the app, rather than picking up where you left off, like most other apps.

Overall a decent app. I just wish the Breaking News Alerts (option only on/off) were more customizable. 75% of the “Breaking News Alerts” link to WaPo Op-eds. Headers range from “Breaking News” to “Exclusives” to “Live Updates”, but all seem to fall into the same category (ambiguous) and are mostly way behind other news apps in regards to timeliness, often hours.

WaPo has reasonably good content and is one of the main news sources I use but using the app is very frustrating. It crashes several times when going through the articles. If I switch apps then come back, it usually takes me back to the beginning rather than where I was in the sequence. I know iOS on the iPad has issues but this app crashes more than all of my other apps

In the noise of 24 hour news, The Washington Post is my source for clarity. I can read for myself with my own thoughts the topics of the day. There are no voice inflections of commentators to influence my understanding. In the quiet of my own house, I am able to read perspectives that encourage thought and further investigation. The personal stories bring the events of the world into focus. There is always an article or more to celebrate the goodness of life to balance the stress of our time. Thank you for shining a light into the darkness.

I read. Always have. So I have insight when I detect deception. Read the Washington Post, Atlantic, and any other sources you wish and your day will be enriched and enlightened. Eventually the BS will become obvious.
