Awful free version

I just downloaded the app and dictated 15 minutes worth of text. When I went to upload it, the text window was larger than my screen and basically froze, not allowing me to export to another app. Trying it out was a waste of my time.

Does voice play back go double time? It does a really good job at identifying speech

Paid for pro, but not working with IPhone 11 pro

This app worked well with my iPhone 8, but not with my 11 pro... not even able to open the app.

At last! A real Dictation App!

I have tried many dictation apps. But this one surpasses all of them. In accuracy, user friendliness, and more importantly the record option. It allows you to manage your text on spot. The possibility to add new words in the vocabulary is a big plus. That being said, there is one bemol: I am having trouble to share Text and Audio together. Only the text went through with WhatsApp and the audio with Messages. What have I done wrong? Please help!

Update reduced functionality to make you buy pro
Mike128472@

The description says that it has unlimited recognition time. That used to be true until a few days ago, when they issued an update that reduced recognition time to 1 minute with a pop up that asks you to pay $7 for the pro version if you want unlimited recognition time like you used to have. Don’t know how much more underhanded you can get. Having a free app and then purposefully reducing its functionality after people have downloaded it.

Easy to Use and Accurate Voice to Text

Does not appear as advertised

I went with the light on my iPad and noticed the text got cut off when reading a WaPo article as a test. It basically stopped transcribing a quarter of the way through. Also, upon replay, it sounded like the mic didn’t work properly. I decided to switch over to my iPhone and did the same test. The mic worked, but still had the same issue with transcription stopping (i.e., some limit). I then decided to upgrade to the pro thinking the limit would be gone. Nope. In short, the Speechy is not supposed to have transcription limits like other transcription apps, yet it does. And the iPad mic does not work properly. I DON’T ADVISE PURCHASING THIS APP UNLESS THE DEVELOPERS ADDRESS MY CONCERNS. If they do, I’ll provide an update.

ESSENTIAL Pro tool even on older iOS devices!

The following review was written on the Speechy app with an iPad mini 2. No editing (a couple errors, I have an east coast accent, sue me LOL), just pure voice to text; Absolutely fantastic. I have tried it on an iPad mini 2, iPad Pro 11 inch, iPhone XR and in every instance it is absolutely stellar. I will say that the system seems to work a little better under iOS 13, most importantly the off-line mode. I tried the free version and within 20 minutes. It was worth every bit of the eight dollars and I look forward to using this for a long time to come. The voice recording is great, and I could see maybe using that on occasion, but I am a writer and I can put out 5000 words on a keyboard with about the same effort as putting out 8 to 10,000 words by voice. The speech recognition is quick and natural, and you can use speech commands to get your punctuation. I recommend this wonderful application to anybody looking for a simple and clean interface for dictation, without spending the money for Dragon which is obviousPayment by the hour, which is absolutely ridiculous at this day and age. Give the free version a shot, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Go pro if you plan on using it or you just don't want the advertisements, but if you dictate this is the best solution I have seen in ages. Also, it works great in the background while I have floating applications open such as Safari or notes. That alone makes it extremely useful for dictating while you are researching, such as when you are writing historical pieces or need technical information for In less than an hour I can already see that this will become a staple of my writing tool kit. Thank you, developers, you have really not one out of the park here.

Crashes

The app crashes and freezes. You lose all you dictated. I am glad I tried the free version before I wasted $5 per month on an app that doesn’t work.
