Poor business model

134 Indiana University students invited out of the 40,000 that live on campus... I don't understand how this could possibly be practical, especially with a rollout of advertisements on social media for an app that basically is impossible for 99% of most campuses to use.
An Elaborate Scam by the Creators?

I've certainly never seen something advertised that I was actually not allowed to use. Sure, it piqued my curiosity, but in the end I looked it up and didn't find anything about it that made me actually want to be a part of it. Having a full page of 1-star reviews didn't help either. I'm interested to see how long $3M in seeding lasts if you're paying teams of five $23/hour apiece at every college you want in on. That's $115/hour/team. Assuming you want in on at least 100 schools to be successful, you can afford to pay the teams for 260 total. Paying only interns the entire seed an average of only 4 hours a day gives you 65 days of operation. Assuming: You won't pay interns every day, You'll receive some payment from your advertisers (I also like to advertise my products on empty apps), The non-interns are getting paid as well, and You've already blown money on things like a nonsensical teaser video, I'd say your over/under for survival is about 3 months. Last thing: are you sure you'd want to launch a college-based app before summer break? Obviously it'll still be there when we get back, but an app in its infancy might be killed by such a long break, especially if it relies on invites. This app seems to lack any substance, has questionable marketing and fragile finances, making me suspicious that it was never meant to be successful. If it's a scam, congratulations on your cut of the $3M! (Give a bonus to the intern who left the 5-star review)

The only reason im giving it a 3 stars is cause i feel this app can be promising if i do get invited; however, at the moment im just a sitting duck waiting to get chosen. Please let me know how to get chosen.

cool concept, psyched to be part of it! i get where the 'hate' speech is coming from but it seems like i've been on a different app these past few days! curious to see how big it actually gets..
