Write or copy lyrics into VCVCBC. When you’re ready to add chords, your space between lines will determine the sections. For your convenience, a great rhyming dictionary is built-in (requires online connectivity).

When there’s a melody in your head, you want to get it recorded before it’s lost. Figure out the key and scale fast with the simple voice keyboard. We’ll highlight the key and scale, but leave all the notes, just in case. Or, if you prefer the comfort of the piano keyboard, it’s here for you as well.

This app is freakin amazing!!!!! I have never seen anything so user friendly, so creative, done in a way that can bring song to life whether you are an accomplished musician/songwriter or simply someone with awesome lyrics or a great melody that needs to be heard by others and brought to life. Worth every penny and I hope there will be many find the joy and possibilities I am already experiencing after you purchase this app. It's going to be hard for me to focus on work, family and other responsibilities now because all I want to do is spend time on this app. I've used Garage Band and other tools, but this is so fresh and stands out above the rest. A must. Check it out!

Awesome creative tool for songwriters! The rhyming feature alone is well worth the price - the other features are awesome as well! I would like to see the keyboard have a feature that looks more like a piano, but overall, the app is great!

The previous reviewers must know the creator of this app. The video tutorial leads you to believe there's more to this app than there is. Don't waste your money.
Bare bones, but very useful

I've only played with it a little bit, but I really like it. This is a nice sketchpad for song ideas, to put together a map and rough out a chord chart before jumping into a music production app. If I've got a lyric idea bouncing in my brain, this'll catch it before it evaporates. The graphics and sounds are a little weak, and I'd like to have a way to record an audio snippet, but I'm not going to gripe too much.
Great for covering all aspects of songwriting at once!

I love writing songs, but I'm not very disciplined at it. So I really like how the app focuses you simultaneously on all aspects of the song. I can't tell you the number of times I've gotten a track almost completely produced and then hit a wall trying to come up with a lyric to fit it at the last minute (judging from the unfinished tracks on my hard drive, it's a lot of times). This way, while I'm working on the lyric I'm thinking about the melody. And if I work on the chords, I need to tie those back to a lyric. It's a very holistic, productive approach and I like it! It's really a tool that songwriters have been needing all along.

This app is good. However, it constantly crashes and doesn't save my progress. It's hard to put the lyrics and the chords together on one page. It's like I'm sent back to square one every time. It sounds like a good idea and it is, but the functionality doesn't work for me since it crashes frequently. Can't get anything done.

I have been waiting to give this app a review. I have not used it for months because I was hoping that they would have updated it by now but nothing... 1. So the graphics are less than desirable over all. 2. The napkin idea is fun but works better in real life feel like it is useful space that I could use for something else 3. Drumming on a table, back of chair, steering wheel...nice idea but would need more intelligent multi touch controls with multiple sounds I cannot say that it was worth the $4.99 that I spent for this app, it just sits doing nothing.

The app has good ideas but needs polish. Some of the chords do not play correctly and the interface leaves something to be desired but the developer has yet to issue an update. Too bad.
Everything you need in a songwriting app

I have always played music and always "wrote" music, but was so unorganized that I never really WANTED to sit down and right and I never had a clear idea of the structure of my songs (I would just end up improvising a lot). VCVCBC has changed EVERYTHING about the way that I write music, for the better. The app has everything you could think of that would be helpful to have in a songwriting app. It even has a rhyming feature for when you need to find that word that fits. it lets you record melody ideas on top of the lyrics you write.... place chords where they should go in your songs... even give you ideas of what chords will work together. I went from barely writing at all to writing all of the time thanks to VCVCBC. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in writing songs.
Big city but great idea

I wish I wish I wish this app wasn't bugging out on me. What a great concept! Start a song from a lyric, I Melody, a rhythm, or jump right into a full song. Add in the ability to choose any word and have a rhyming dictionary pop up. Add in the ability to record the whole song attached to lyrics or record each segment of the song separately four instance, just record the verse or just record the chorus since you might not have one of the other fully complete. Great ideas here! I love the fact that you can export the song directly into one of my favorite apps of all time… OnSong. You can even strum guitar chords within the app in case you don't have an instrument with you. Super cool! This app is so buggy though that the sound keeps shutting off. It's not syncing with Dropbox, it took me forever to figure out how to change the key of my song which happened by accident. When I go to delete a song idea, the song still up here until I exit from the program in return. Again amazing app if it just worked.
