Too difficult for a casual game, missions too short and too frantic

AdamDZ

Just like Futuremark,s PC game, Shattered Horizon, this game is quite original, has great graphics, high production values and is very polished but is just way too difficult to enjoy for a casual gamer. I really wanted to play SH but I gave up in frustration. This is just like that. I really want to enjoy this game, but can't, even on the easiest setting. The game adds a few twists to the tower defense gameplay that make is more dynamic and requires a lot more attention, quick decisions and fast actions, just like SH did to FPS genre by adding full 3D movement and accurate physics. Compared to Tower Madness, Starfall, Sentinel o Defense Grid this game is extremely hard. The game is way too ambitious for it's own good. First, the satellites need to be moved around during the game, unlike static towers in most tower defense games. Second, the aliens cause damage to the towers and the towers need to be repaired either by spending resources or building a repair satellite. Third, alien paths change during the level. Other aspects that add to the difficulty is that the levels are really short and there is not enough time to really plan anything. There is no way to make use of all your available satellites during individual mission. There are very few preset satellite positions to choose from and the satellites are locked in position on the orbits so when you move one satellite, others on the same orbit move too. Resource gathering is very slow, even with the advanced energy satellites and the sale value of towers is very low. Finally, aliens cause huge deal of damage even at the easiest settings. I play tower defense games as means to relax and kill some time, this game frustrated me and I stopped playing after maybe an hour. I just can't get past one mission. If longer and easier missions are introduced I might get back to this game. Otherwise, sadly, I'm done with it. Oh and the retro sci-fi style gives a few chuckles in the beginning but gets old pretty quickly and just becomes plain silly.

Short levels and an Amazing Tower Defense game!

Adriano Cavalheiro

I have to disagree with AdamDZ's review below, for some of the same reasons he pointed out. The fact that the levels are short make this game so much more enjoyable to me! I love Tower Defense games, but get frustrated by many of them after playing a level for 30-45 minutes, only to be defeated at the very end, and then have to replay the whole level from scratch. With short levels such as the ones in Unstoppable Gorg, I can easily replay them and try out new tactics! This is an awesome feature to me, not a drawback! As far as the difficulty, I have been playing it in Moderate level and find it somewhat easy to beat, including getting most (if not all) of the medals in each level. Sure, it gets sometime getting used to the orbit dynamics, but that's part of the fun. With other TD games, sometimes you can only sit back and watch while you are still waiting for more money to pile up. Here, we are always taking an active role in "managing the troops" by coordinating attacks from different orbits and moving your towers (satellites) around. It adds another dimension to the game, and I find it enjoyable. The short retro movies might be cheesy, but that's the whole idea, and I absolutely love the concept and creativity behind them. I consider them part of the prize for completing each mission, so fun they are to watch! Request for the Developers: It would be nice if we could click on one of our towers, or on one of the enemies during the game and a "hint" pop-up with a brief explanation on the tower (or enemy) would show up in the bottom right corner. Nothing fancy, but just the # stars on speed/damage/etc. No need for the text description, but just an assessment of the unit type. Thanks!

Since finishing Kingdom Rush I've been looking for another great TD game...this is it

Fantastic and unique tower defense A++

This game should be featured by apple. It's delightful, a wonderfully done campy homage to the 50's. Great gameplay with hilarious cutscenes which have a lot of effort put into them, good art and production quality throughout, and none of the greedy IAPS which plague the TD genre. If you are looking for a top notch game, you've found it. I'm not even into the 1950's sci-fi thing and I found it compelling, try it and you'll be hooked too.

Ok defense game

Being addicted to tower defense games I like this one just don't love it as dislike the constant having to move your towers into attack position. Would rather concentrate on building my defenses like most other TDs do. The campy feel and cutscenes are great.
