You are commander of the U.S.S. Protector, and it is your mission to defend the galaxy against the corrupt forces of the Krygons invasion fleet. The entire galaxy is your battlefield; which is divided off into 64 numbered quadrants. There are 8 rows of 8 to help you distinguish which aliens are in which quadrants, and which ones you need to focus on. However you only need to concern yourself with those intruders that inhabit the quadrant that you are patrolling.
Trek Quest HD features:
* Accurate re-creation of the classic Super Star Trek computer game
* Easy to use controls
* Engaging game play
* Three levels of play
* Trainee mode for learning the basics
Use the phaser and photon torpedo weapons in your arsenal to help you gain control over your diabolical enemy. Use your deflector shields to ward off attacks; and survey the battlefield with your long range and short range scanners. You can also use a galaxy map, or star chart, to get a feel for what lays ahead of you.
Trek Quest HD includes a trainee section and 3 increasingly difficult levels of play. The difference between the levels is the number of enemy craft which increase with the rank you select. The starting energy level of your ship and the remaining playing time also decrease as you progress from one level to the next. The trainee helps you learn the navigation of your ship, and how to operate the weapon systems. In this mode you start out nice and easy, with only one enemy and one star base in each quadrant. After you complete each quadrant, that sector will turn blue so you will know which areas you've already conquered.
Move about under warp drive or impulse power but be aware that the enemy is lurking, waiting to attack you. When your ship gets hit, your equipment may sustain damage. If that happens, the damage reports screens show the estimated time needed to repair your craft. If your rig becomes disabled, you can take a break at a star base and rest while your repairs are being taken care of.
Infinite space brings infinite possibilities for mass destruction, so it's important to travel carefully into the cosmos. Download Trek Quest HD now, because the Krygons are coming and you may be the galaxy's only hope.

I agree that there are crash issues but the concept should appeal to fans of the Next Generation. It really makes you feel like your operating Worf's and Data's stations during battle. Besides crashing it really needs to be made easier. The trainee mode is simply to hard. When you travel to another quadrant you're destroyed before you even have a chance to reset your shield strength. Also, My targeting scanner showed I was locked on an enemy vessel and instead I destroyed the star base in the next square. Keep making fixes/updates and my rating should definitely go to 5 stars.
Please fix the crashes....every time I play 1 star for game play 1 star to improve on all the potential this game has
Keeps crashing to the difficulty-select screen. Frustrating, because the interface (although a bit busy) is true to the franchise and the gameplay mechanics seem reasonable enough. Were this a stable release, this would easily garner 4 or 5 stars from me.
As a trekkie fan, I saw the poor reviews but bought anyway. I am hoping the developers read these reviews and update the app accordingly. Let's start with the graphics interface - Very Trek like in look and feel, but some panels do not work as described. In particular, the Shields panel does not set properly. You can input your shield strength setting, but the display does not update properly. Try to make a change to that setting and nothing happens. And your shield are VERY IMPORTANT. Movement - A simple 8x8 grid for movement in quadrant or galaxy mode work well, but the display is just too simplistic for what is listed as an HD app. Energy - Everything drains ship power. But trying to find a display for balancing power consumption versus benefit is not simple and not consolidated. You have to plunk around and around ... considering the power of the iPad, one would think you could have more detailed "panels" ... Bottomline ... over priced, limited content, but a good start ... save your money and wait for more content or upgrades. Robert9001
Just plain horrible. I'm so ticked off I payed for this game I want to punch myself in the nuts. And I'm a huge trek fan. What a disappointment.
If you are like me, and play the old Star Trek game in the late 70's and early 80's, you'll enjoy this a lot. Still the same game, just fancier graphics. I used to play this game on a printer console, god I wasted a lot of paper. It's fun to relive those memories.
I enjoyed this game... But I wish there was some kind of screen that says that you win or you lose...if seems to just go back to the screen where you select rank. Might be a bug... Worth buying...good graphical update to a cool game from my childhood in the 70's
