How to use the app:
• Select the language of the original text as text recognition language.
• Take a picture of the document (page, instruction, or any other text)
• Press the "Scan" button
• Recognized text will appear on the screen with an option to select the source language and the target (translation) language.
• After you select the language, the original text will be automatically translated and will appear at the bottom of the screen.
• To listen to the translation, press the "Voice" button

This probably isn’t the globetrotting app photo translator that some people expect. Which might explain the overall score for this awesome little code piece. I would explain this app as a translator for foreign languages “used in the US”. That’s the important bit. A lot of people in the states don’t speak English, and English speakers here are not usually bilingual. So I can understand some limitation with regional dialects found all over the world. I doubt you can get that at this price point... which is Free. So, This app is light weight and easy to use. It will serve well around most ethnic places in the US. Easy as taking a photo. Can also translate the 50 pages of instructions that come with electronics. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few things that could be improved. But, this app is nothing but good for non-English speaking people to use in the US. Or English speakers who have wandered into The Barrio. Not so much for English people in foreign countries... (Many countries include unexplainable dialects and can’t be expected to be included) All in all, it does what I want when I need it. And it’s fun! 5* all around.

If I could give it less than a star I would. I tried so many times to translate Japanese to English but it wouldn’t scan the words at all. It’d give me a loading screen then tell me it couldn’t do it no matter what I tried. Then on top of that since I had the free version I could only scan 3 times so when they were giving me errors it was also taking away the times I could scan a picture in. This app needs some serious work if it ever wants to be good because as far as I see it this app is trash.
