Brilliant Instrument and Toy!

PhotoFanatic

Ever since the Tenori-On came out, I've wanted one. The instrument is a piece of art that you use to create art. It's ingeniously designed, and especially for people who are visually and musically intuitive, its interface is really neat. Layers, blocks, voices, etc. can be changed using button shortcuts that combine the Left and Right buttons with rows, columns, and points on the grid. And until you figure out the shortcut buttons, there's a great menu system. Especially since adding MIDI abilities, this is a powerful instrument for creating music. It's also very intuitive and fun. I hear it's beautiful on iPad. Personally, I only have an iPhone, and I'm shocked at how well it works. Don't expect to get the right note the first time every time on the small screen. But it does work. And I love having such a fun and powerful music creation program in my pocket. Six stars out of five. Thank you, Yamaha, for making the Tenori-On experience available to so many folks with this app. (BTW, there have been some complaints about glitches and stability in the past. As of Feb 2013, it seems solid.)

A wonderful app

Truly marvelous sonic capability wrapped in an elegant interface! Please add Audiobus support to help integrate this with a professional workflow. : )

AudioBus???

bittlebox

This is truly my favorite app of all my music creation apps and you will always get 5 stars from me but I have to say that when I saw this in my updates, my heart skipped a beat in thinking that maybe it was for adding AudioBus support …. so I'm disappointed but still hoping.

Eh....midi? Seriously?

Sailorjtaylor

Literally no way to network midi! It's useless without it..... Huge disappointment... If Yamaha actually cares they'll fix it and not be snobby robbers and run away with our cash... I feel a lot of formal complaints coming their direction!!!! :)

No MIDI or AudioBus support

TranquilVision

See topic: one star. If these issues are addressed? 5 stars. Get to work, Yamaha.

Please add MIDI

Krusecom

Please add virtual midi and also make your updates available to those on ios 6.0

Rip off

Mgmg4871

Yamaha ripped off TNR-1 users by creating TNR-e and selling it for the same price. It should have been a IAP added to TNR-1. Terrible idea. I will never purchase another product from them.

Weak Sausage

They now have tenor-e on for additional $20 buck with new content(samples) and fx. Why not just sell the packs in one app and upgrade this one for those who want the content. Greedy move Yamaha! Until something gets done which probably won't one star- though I love the app.

Not cool...

Murdock Scott

Update users don't abandon them. Offering a new version as a separate app is one of those tactics I really hate. I don't have time to keep up with this developers mess as they try to eek out the money they feel they are deserved by their old school, gouge the hell out of the nich market thinking! Figure it out! If they wanted $40 then ASK for $40 and have one upgrade path! Sure, charge us for add on content, most everyone is fine with that. Here is what's NOT fine... Planed obsolescence! I think I will pass spending another $20 and focus on one of the many other apps I already own that offer similar functionality.

Not Cool Yamaha

I have to agree with others that not having the content available from the tenori-e is an unwise move. You must have known there would be backlash do to this but you went ahead and did it anyway. The only way I will give the tenor-i 5 stars is if you make the tenori-e content available. I'm mean really, why didn't you just add it as an upgrade in one whole product? Just smile and it will be all better, right?( wink, wink)
