Good start

The program crashes when trying to go to the menu. When producing /t/, the sound is voiceless. The fox produces it with a schwa which is incorrect. I have not gotten through the whole game because I can't access the menu. The game is an excellent idea, it just needs a few corrections. Dot p-slp

I downloaded this for my son because he has speech problems and thought this might be fun for him. It won't even load at all. Now I've paid $1.99 for something he can't even use. DONT BOTHER until they get it fixed. It's a great idea, but isn't worth anything if it won't load or work.

Crashes on original iPhone

Doesn't get past the loading screen. No warning for pre-iOS4 devices. Wasted $1.99.

Great for my 2yo
Liquid Soap Dispenser

My 2yo son has always been a little behind his friends when it comes to speech. Not just fewer words, but he says things "bye" but without the "b", and calls the iPad or iPhone the "I pew." I figured an app that would help his speech would be interesting to try, though I didn't know if it would keep his interest. I got TigaTalk late last night, and was surprised this morning to hear him repeating various sounds as directed by TigaTalk. How did this app get him to do it? By making fun games that are played by him repeating specific sounds. The games actually listen for your child to make the specified sound, which then does thing like throws balls to knock down blocks on screen. There's a ton going on in this fairly large app, computer animation, footage of what appear to be puppets, traditional looking art, and different voices and character. There appears to be many many levels. And my son plays the speech games for quite awhile without losing interest. We've played this on my iPad and iPhone 3GS and haven't had any technical issues, I'm not sure why others have reported problems. I think this is an outstanding app for helping kids develop their speech!

There are a few problems
mtmarySLP

As a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist, the idea of this game seemed like it would be fun for my students. However, when I put the game on my iPad (which is what I use mostly for therapy), I was unable to access the menu. The screen simply went black. I tried the application on my older Touch. I was able to access the menu, change sounds, etc. However, the older touch does not have a built in mic. When I put in the auxilary mic, the sound was turned off. There are a few things I really like about the application. When it works, the menu button has a "grown-up" question that makes it so the child can't change sounds. There are a number of sounds that can be targeted as well which is wonderful. On the screen is a symbol of a mouth that when pushed, provides an example of a real mouth/tongue saying the sound. All in all, I'm hopeful for this app. If I had a new touch it would probably work wonderfully. It does not currently work on iPads and it does not work on older the Touch.

Some Problems
PK SLP

On the iPad (possibly it's different on the iPhone) it does not differentiate between sounds. For example, if it is asking for /b/ and you say /g/, it praises as though you've said the sound correctly. Bummer - it's a great idea.

Needs some serious updates
Nia / SLP

This app gives the students praise for saying the sound incorrectly, you can say just about anything and it will say "yayyyy you did it"... Great idea but horrible for speech therapy because we are trying to reinforce correct productions of the sounds.

Disappointing
Rob Brink

great concept, but does not discriminate between speech sounds and reinforces incorrect productions.

app responds to any sound as a correct response
xotpnq

which is the worst possible outcome for an app with this purpose.

Just needs a little adjustment to be a winner
specialappssk

You are definitely on the right track. I hope you'll listen to feedback to improve this. The games are so much fun, the mouth close-ups of each sound being made are very instructional, so 3 stars for that. This could so easily be five stars...if not for the reinforcement issue. While I couldn't help but laugh when my son said "poo poo" and laughed gleefully when it was accepted as "pl", the idea is to encourage good speech. PLEASE just add a setting to silence the reinforcement of incorrect sounds, and perhaps plus or minus signs on the screen that a parent or speech therapist (or the child, if self-monitoring) could tap to trigger the proper response. If the reinforcement issue gets fixed, you'll really have a gem that I can recommend to other professionals and parents.
