Unethical developer

Dream-Cypher

This was a fun game, but in the latest update the developer added advertisements and other freemium elements and is demanding that users who previously paid for the app "upgrade" to remove them. I don't think that new functionality should be provided for free, but crippling gameplay that was already purchased and adding advertisements is extremely unethical.

Broken design and complete disregard for paid customers

geoelectric

The gamebook is pretty good, IF and artwise. However, those of us who previously paid now have banner ads and timers. In addition, respawn timers work horribly for IF since it seriously damages your ability to try different things. And banner ads (or even giant "freebie edition" banner) on a 99% visual presentation just spoils it. Would have recommended it at four stars prior to this update. Now I'd recommend checking out Inkle or Tin Man's lineups and giving this a pass, both for design and for ethics reasons.

Good game, but why update

A Schnaare

Why would anyone want to update the app? I think I will keep it the app add free with unlimited lives. Trying to find out how to live past the bunker

Was fun, but now it's not!

Reitveld

Nothing of value or fun was added to the latest update. It is a simple grab for more money (more in app purchases)! Take a pass on this app until the developer comes to their senses.

Evil update destroys game

Kirby21!a

Fun if limited and repetitive game. The new upgrade squashes every ounce of fun from experimenting with the storyline. Greedy developers are greedy and bad.

Unpleasant update

DubsMalone

Liked this game before the recent update. I understand the need to get paid, but don't freemium this game. Charge $0.99 for download, and get your money.

This just wasn't thought out very well...

theSnarkRemarks

The way the change to payment structure was implemented, I'm feeling totally unappreciated for having been willing to purchase the paid version of the game. I don't have a problem with the pay-to-remove-ads deal in general – but I already paid. Which I am really regretting and wish I could undo, because I have now paid TO have ads. Couldn't this have been done in a way that DIDN'T punish everyone who already supported the game?

Update a slap in the face

waterhoarder

After buying this game, I need to pay again to remove ads? Ridiculous. Avoid this developer and all of their apps/games.

Fun game, terrible business practices

Szei

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS KIND OF EXPLOITATIVE BEHAVIOR! Reasonably entertaining game and would have bought the color upgrade if it had not been for the terrible way the dev treated the early adopters of his app. Giving ads and timers to someone who already paid for a game without them is despicable. Even though this does not impact me directly as I discovered this app after it went free, I uninstalled it as soon as I found out about the backhanded practices this dev employs. Such a shame.

You. F***ing. Idiots.

Kxuwg

Seriously? Adding freemium crap to a game you already have to pay for? No one should support this shameless cash grab from the developers. This game was good until this last update. Regenerating lives? Why? What's the point of putting lives on a game that mostly plays out like a book? DO NOT buy this game unless you'd like to flush your own money down the toilet.
