Works great, I have had zero issues with this app. I don’t have to leave the app open all night for the alarm to still work. As with any alarm app used it’s still a good idea to set your regular alarm just in case. But the Rock Clock has not failed me yet (knock on wood!)
Love the concept, a few suggestions

I love the Rock so much and this would really motivate me to get out of bed with a few changes: First, of course, if the alarm worked while in the background or with other apps open. Second, I would love a "random" alarm function that chose one of the Rock's custom alarm sounds at random. Third, better access to support would be nice- I have no idea if the developers will even see this message!

You should have challenges for every alarm to give you a little more energy (it makes it funner and makes you more productive). It’s a good tip...
Good but could be great if one feature was changed

Great functionality and unique alarm varieties. I would give it higher stars IF I could lock my phone and have it still activate the alarm(s). It seems like an oversight or something the developers didn’t polish when finalizing the app.

I downloaded this app about 3-4 days ago. Since then, I have received the exact same motivational message each day; disappointing. I have two different alarms set, one to wake me up and one later in the day for gym time. I have had this app running in sleep mode just like you are supposed to for 3 days. First morning, the alarm rang 45 min late and this was after I had to touch the screen. Other than that, no other alarm has rung. I even have to flip on each alarm after it’s gone off... Then I get on here to read the reviews and find out I’m having the same issues that ppl had with the app over a year ago. Come on, is it that difficult to fix these bugs? No, I think the support of the app is just not there. Not from the actual developers and not from Mr. Johnson himself. I was so excited, now I’m kinda over it.
Should be able to work in the background.

The title really says it all. I don’t charge my phone in my bedroom, so leaving it on all night doesn’t work for me. If it would work in the background like other alarm clock apps it would be perfect.
