Bummer, could've been cool.

Doctor_Ransom

I've played a bunch of the Elder Scrolls games and this one was a disappointment. I figured it would be Pay to Play, but $25 in the first 48 hours I owned the game is just a little outrageous. After that, though, the storyline seemed fairly interesting and I was looking forward to playing. I deleted the app cuz I don't want to afford that sort of P2P.

Is filling a circle and slashing the enemy all?

It’s just like Skyrim! Without sneaking, archery, spells (that actually feel like they have agency), lockpicking, or random encounters. So a well earned 2 stars

I lost my data

I didn’t read if I had to pay or do something to keep my data so this may have been my fault but if it isn’t then this review should hopefully make the developer work on the losing data part because I lost all my data in the game.

Recently started crashing

Texlonghorn06

I’ve been playing since day one and love the game. I tried to get on today and as soon as the character pops up on screen the game crashes and closes. Please fix this issue and I will give it a 5 star rating.

No stamina!

EarlTart

This game is the best game in the App Store. You can play at your own pace. The chest unlock times aren’t insane. It’s hard though... Best of all there’s no stamina. I advise you to spend all of your gems on chest storage.

Don’t waste your time

Another Bethesda cash grab. No idea how it has 4.5 stars. Not only is it boring, you can’t make any progress without waiting hours for chests to open and buildings to upgrade. Of course, unless you have a bunch of excess money to waste on gems to instantly unlock and upgrade everything. Just another worthless mobile game, but with the Elder Scrolls logo slapped on it.

Fantastic

DangerTeague

A perfect blend of Elder Scrolls and mobile gaming! Love the new feature where it displays the enemy’s weaknesses below the health bar.

Just Perfect

I don’t usually write reviews for mobile games but this one blew me out of the water. It’s almost as if this was a game on PC or console. The amount of challenging, and true skill gameplay really gives you motivation to become even better; with your own skills and in game skills. It really gives something to work towards and feel accomplished when you finally rebuild your town or level up your character. All in all, amazing job developers and continue making this game great!

A good, free mobile game with no ads?!

I got sick of puzzle games and any game that beats you over the head with ads, so I decided to try this one. It’s one of the better mobile games I’ve ever played, and it’s not pay to win, which is automatically three stars in my book. I enjoy the town-building mechanic, and quests kind of go in line with you building up your town. Combat is more strategic than any mobile game has a right to feature, with timing, spell choice and weapon choice making a big difference in the outcome of each battle. Enemies do appear to “level up” with you and as you improve your gear—I fought a skeleton guardian at level 11 or 12 and didn’t have an easy time, then a few levels later I thought it’d be easier because I had better gear and perks and spells, and it was, but only slightly. Unlike Skyrim or Oblivion, you don’t need to grind the typical skills to make armor, weapons, potions or enchant anything—you just need gold and the proper materials. And in a big turn from many games, the gems, which are premium currency, are given freely (albeit not frequently) through quests, jobs and leveling up. This is good because they really help to open chests quicker, the negative point of which I’ll touch on shortly. The bad? For one, quests don’t vary much and you will do essentially the same quests fifty times each before you reach level 30. Another thing is the difficulty of the jobs. I’m level 20 now, and I’m lucky if I get a job that is harder than 1 skull (out of 5). When the environments and objectives don’t vary hardly ever, it gets boring to have five jobs (the maximum in the list of jobs) all at one skull with the occasional FIVE SKULLS OUT OF NOWHERE quest! The main quests to advance the story are often five skulls in difficulty, so either I’m going too fast or not getting good enough gear or enchantments. At least one main quest only reduced in difficulty level after five level ups, and even at 3-4 skulls the actual difficulty level can be either “need to do this quest ten times before winning after getting pretty far each time” or “impossible regardless of level and gear.” So in short, the challenge needs to be evened out, it’s either too easy or nearly impossible. Now to the chests. 5s to open a wooden chest, then makes a jump to 1hr to open a silver, and 6H FOR A GOLD? This needs to be more balanced. Maybe 1m for wooden, 45m for silver and 3 or 4h for gold? I like that I can spend gems to increase chest capacity, something that I would hate if I couldn’t get more gems without spending money, but six hours is a long time. I understand the game is in “early access” which is essentially a buzzword for “essentially in beta,” so when you add in that it’s totally free (seriously, many FAR lesser games of this nature have cost and do cost like $9.99 at least), it’s not pay to win, and is a decently rewarding experience, it’s easy to forgive Bethesda for not having literally everything ironed out in what I assume to be a pretty early version of the game. I am sure we will see future updates expanding features, gear and environments, and until then keep up the good work Bethesda.
